Houston Rockets vs. Minnesota Timberwolves Preview

On the season the Rockets are 5-2 ATS and they have an O/U record of 0-7 and the Timberwolves are 4-2 ATS and they have an Under record of 3-3.

In their last games the Rockets lost to the Golden State Warriors 98-87 and the Timberwolves lost to the Miami Heat 102-92.

This game is behind held south of the border in Mexico City where the Rockets are the 6.5-point betting favorite. The Timberwolves have lost 2 in a row and they are without one of their best players with PG Ricky Rubio out with an ankle injury.

The Rockets were dealt their first loss of the season in their last game and the main reason was that C Dwight Howard was out with an illness. He is slated to go in this game and Houston needs him, as in the loss to the Warriors the Rockets shot a season low 34.9% from the floor and they were dominated in the paint being outscored 56-32.

James Harden is the 3rd leading scorer in the NBA and in his last 3 games facing Minnesota he is averaging nearly 30 ppg.

Howard’s offense is needed tonight, but hs D may be more important. The Rockets have not allowed an opponent to score over 100 points this season and they rank 2nd in the league in opponents’ points allowed.

Kevin Martin is the leading scorer for Minnesota at 19.6 ppg, but has to play better than in the last game facing the Heat when he only hit 2 field goals and finished with 8 points.

Nikola Pekovic has played well as the C for Minnesota averaging 15 ppg and 8.5 ppg and he has the unenviable task of guarding Howard and he cannot let the Houston C dominate the lane.

The Timberwolves won the last game between these 2 teams, which snapped their 4 game losing streak against them.
