Houston Rockets vs. Atlanta Hawks Preview

On the season the Rockets are 34-25 ATS and they have an O/U record of 27-32 and the Celtics are 39-19-1 ATS and they have an O/U record of 29-30.

This season the Hawks are 27-4 at home and the Rockets are 17-10 on the road.

In their last games the Rockets beat the Cleveland Cavaliers 105-103 in OT and the Hawks beat the Miami Heat 93-91.

The Rockets have been impressive as of late winning 5 straight games and they have done so without Dwight Howard. However, can they win without the possible front-runner in the MVP race? Well, they will have to tonight, as the league’s leading scorer in James Harden is suspended for tonight’s game after he kicked Cleveland’s LeBron James in Houston’s last game.

Not only will the Rockets be without Harden, but they have struggled against the top 2 teams in the league in the Warriors and the Hawks.

[dfads params=’groups=63727&limit=1&return_javascript=0′]

They have lost 4 games against the Warriors all by at least 10 points and they shot less than 40% from the floor in their earlier season loss at home to the Hawks.

The Hawks have continues to impress, as they have won 4 in a row and still are in the top spot in the East with a 9.5-game lead over the 2nd place Raptors.

With Harden out the Rockets will have to play solid D and they rank in the middle of the pack in the league (16th) in terms of opponents’ points allowed.

The Hawks are a very balanced team, as they rank 7th in the league in scoring and 2nd in opponents’ points allowed.

The top 2 scorers in Harden and Howard are out for the Rockets, but the 6th highest scoring team in the league still has 6 other players that are averaging in double figures.

The Hawks are a league-best 21-8 against opponents that have winning records.

The Hawks won their last game even though they rested the 3 starters of Al Horford, DeMarre Carroll and Jeff Teague, who should all be on the court tonight.
