Two division leaders from the NBA’s Eastern Conference square off in South Beach as the Miami Heat entertains the Chicago Bulls on Sunday afternoon.

Miami has had their issues with top teams in the league, and Chicago has been one painful thorn in their side. The Bulls won the previous two matchups between these clubs, but both of those games were played in Chicago.

The Heat had a huge lead on Thursday night but were outscored 40-9 down the stretch of the game and lost to division-rival Orlando. Miami is led by the dynamic scoring duo of LeBron James (26.3 PPG) and Dwayne Wade (25.6 PPG), both of whom are in the top five in the NBA in scoring. Adding in the play of the third member of their ‘Big Three’ in Chris Bosh (18.2 PPG) gives the Heat the only club with three players in the top 30 in scoring.

The Bulls have quietly put together a first place season in the Central Division in this 20th anniversary season of their first world championship from 1990-91. Derrick Rose is blossoming into one of the elite point guards in all of basketball. He is averaging 24.6 points per outing, 8th best in the league, and is 10th in assists at 8.2 per game.

Another reason for Chicago’s solid play lately has been the return from injury of Joakim Noah. The 6’11” forward from Florida has played in five games since being activated of injured reserve, and has averaged 10.8 points and 12.8 rebounds per game in leading the Bulls to three wins over that span.

Chicago enters play this weekend with a 14 ½ game lead over Indiana in the Central Division, the largest lead for any of the six division front-runners. They are in the middle of a road trip that will see them swing through Orlando to face the Magic on Friday night.

Recent Trends:
CHI are 8-2 ATS in their last 10 games overall.
CHI are 2-5-1 ATS in their last 8 Sun. games.
Over is 8-2 in MIA last 10 vs. NBA Central.
MIA are 6-2 ATS in their last 8 Sun. games.
Under is 9-3 in the last 12 meetings.

Matt’s Free Prediction: Heat – Despite their recent woes against teams with gifted point guards, Miami will sense the urgency of getting things turned around against elite teams by posting a home victory on Sunday against a solid Bulls squad.
