ATS Matchup Insight | CappersPicks Insider Preview

The Lakers enter this game riding high after a 114-110 win over the Thunder in their last outing. Guard Jodie Meeks was the star of the show in that one, scoring 42 points on 11-of-18 shooting, knocking down six of 11 three-point attempts, and adding four steals. Center Pau Gasol was no slouch in that game either, racking up 20 points and 11 rebounds.

The loss for Oklahoma City came despite some strong performances from the team’s best players.

Forward Kevin Durant had a triple-double, posting 27 points, 12 assists, and 10 rebounds. Fellow forward Serge Ibaka filled out his stat line with 21 points, 15 rebounds, two steals, two blocks, and an assist. Point guard Russell Westbrook had 20 points, eight assists, seven rebounds, and three steals, though he shot just 7-of-23 from the field.

One notable element from that game is that the Thunder had to deal with the lookahead factor as they had a date with the Rockets and former teammate James Harden which surely caught their eye.

The Thunder did win that one behind 42 points from Durant, claiming a 106-98 decision. Their defense was strong in that one, holding the Rockets to 41.8 percent shooting from the field, and they’ll look for another strong defensive effort on their home court. Lakers guard Meeks was held to nine points on 3-of-16 shooting in the team’s last trip to Oklahoma City.

The Lakers have been better than many expect on the road this season, and they’ll have a chance to really make some noise with a strong performance in this one.

The Thunder will be motivated and looking for revenge, but with the playoffs just around the corner and a back-to-back situation coming up, they would surely just rather build up a margin and get their starters to the bench.

Trends/Prediction

Additionally, the total for this game has been set too high after these teams had gone on a 7-2 streak to the over prior to their last game, which had a total of 228 and played under the number.

The Lakers are 6-1 ATS in their last seven road games, while the Thunder are 1-6 ATS in their last seven games played on a Thursday.

The under is 4-1 in the Thunder’s last five games following an outing in which they allowed 100 or more points.

The play: Los Angeles +16.5, Under 227.5
