NBA Betting: Utah vs. Orlando Preview/Predictions

NBA Handicapping Odds – Howard, Magic, Host D-Will, Jazz

The Utah Jazz (16-11 SU, 15-12 ATS, 16-10-1 O/U) will be looking to regain the consistency they lost just after the month of December began. After winning seven of its previous eight games, the Jazz have hone just 5-4 over its last nine game while alternating wins and losses in each of their last five games overall.

Utah will take on an Orlando Magic (20-7 SU, 15-12 ATS, 14-13 O/U) team that will be looking to improve on their stellar home record and continue the winning ways they’ve displayed virtually all season.

Utah 411

The Jazz got a double-double of 22 points and 11 rebounds from power forward Carlos Boozer in their 110-102 win over the Charlotte Bobcats on Saturday.

All-star point guard Deron Williams added 23 points to help Utah cash in for pro basketball betting backers as a 2.5-point road underdog to move to 3-2 ATS over its last five games.

Orlando 411

The Magic handed Portland a 92-83 loss on Saturday, getting a double-double of 12 points and 20 rebounds from all-star center Dwight Howard while narrowly covering the NBA point spread as an 8.5-point home favorite.

Orlando has gone just 2-4 ATS over its last six games and 5-5 ATS over the last 10 games overall.

Pro Football Betting Trends

Jazz are 5-1 ATS in their last 6 vs. Eastern Conference.
Jazz are 5-2 ATS in their last 7 games as an underdog.
Jazz are 9-4 ATS in their last 13 games overall.
Magic are 1-4 ATS in their last 5 games vs. a team with a winning S.U. record.
Magic are 1-5 ATS in their last 6 games following an ATS win.
Jazz are 3-12-1 ATS in the last 16 meetings.
Jazz are 1-5 ATS in the last 6 meetings in Orlando.

Analysis: if the Utah Jazz continue their recent trend of winning one game before losing the next, they’re due to lose this game tonight.

The Orlando Magic will be looking to extract some revenge for their Dec. 10 loss at Utah where they failed to cover the NBA point spread as 2.5-point road favorites despite getting a game-high 34 points from Vince Carter.

I like Orlando to get their revenge for that loss in this matchup, but I’m going to take the Jazz to cover the NBA point spread again, this time as 7.5-point road underdogs, a figure I think they’ll cover in a narrow loss.

The Jazz average almost the same amount of points per game as the Magic this season and are allowing just 2.4 points per game more than Orlando defensively. Utah has a solid roster full of competent veteran players and two legitimate all-star players in Deron Williams and Carlos Boozer.

I know the Magic have its own roster full of near all-star caliber players, but I say the Jazz keep the final score close enough to cash in for pro basketball betting backers.
