ATS Matchup Insight | CappersPicks Insider Preview

After beating the Nuggets, 122-111 earlier in the season, Houston (55-25) trailed early on in the last contest, but was able to turn things around when it mattered most.

The Rockets jumped out to an early lead behind a franchise-record, 47-point second quarter, but Denver overcame a 17-point halftime deficit to tie it at 88 entering the fourth period and was leading the game by eight late in regulation.

Houston then used a 9-1 run, capped by a 3-pointer by Harden to tie the game at 117 with 7.1 seconds remaining.

Denver’s Evan Fournier scored 26 points and Aaron Brooks, who started for Ty Lawson who was out with a left ankle sprain, added 24 points and 15 assists against his former team.

Jeremy Lin scored 19 points and Omer Asik had a season-high 18 points for the Rockets who beat the LA Lakers 145-130 last night.

Meanwhile, Denver (33-44) has lost two straight including Sunday’s loss to the Rockets, but has had two days rest coming into this contest.

The Nuggets have struggled all season long but are ranked ninth in league in scoring with 104.1 PPG.

Defensively, however, Denver ranks 28th overall in defense, surrendering a loose 106.4 points per game.

Not good as they face a Houston offense that seems at the time to be scoring at will, with a second best overall ranking (107.6 PPG) on nearly 49 percent shooing

Still, just like the Nuggets, the Rockets defense is porous, giving up 102. 1 points per game, ranking them 22nd in league.

Matt’s Prediction: Houston is 21-17 on the road, while Denver is 20-18 at the Pepsi Center.

And while the Rockets are the hotter team at the moment this one, I think the Nuggets have the offense to keep up, making this one difficult to call straight up.

Therefore, the safer play is probably on the over/under here.

The last two meetings were set at 214 and 222. So if the number set at 220 or below, take the over.

Rockets 115, Denver 110
