Miami Heat vs. Denver Nuggets NBA Gambling Free Picks & Preview

NBA Handicapping – Miami Heat vs Denver Nuggets

One thing the Miami Heat will be hoping for in Denver, is that they can get the job done in just 48 minutes of basketball.

Date/Time: 10:30 PM ET, Friday, January 13, 2012
Venue: Pepsi Center, Denver, CO
Broadcast: ESPN
Spread: Miami -3.5
Over/Under: 210.5

That hasn’t been the case of late, as the Heat have played in three overtime games in their last four outings, coming up short in their last two.

They will now will look to put away a streaky Denver Nuggets who snapped their two-game losing streak with a huge win on Wednesday.

After beating Atlanta on the road in extra time on January 5, Miami (8-3) took care of business in New Jersey two days later, before losing to both the Warriors and Clippers in back-to-back overtime periods on their trip through the Golden State.

Both losses were the result of the Heat’s inability to score from the field down the stretch, including their 95-89 loss in Los Angeles.

However, despite their shooting infertility, the Heat kept the Clippers at bay by making seven free throws in the last seven minutes, but Chauncey Billups three free throws with 27.3 seconds remaining put the Clippers ahead.

LeBron James had 23 points, 13 rebounds and seven assists for Miami (8-3), but he also had six turnovers and was just 9 of 17 from the line, with one of those forcing overtime with 12 seconds remaining. [soliloquy id=”82219″]

The other half of the dynamic duo, Dwyane Wade had 17, while Chris Bosh had a double-double with 16 points and 11 rebounds.

Meanwhile, Danilo Gallinari scored 17 of his team-best 22 points in the first quarter as the Denver Nuggets took control early and rolled to a 123-115 victory over the visiting New Jersey Nets on Wednesday night.

The amazing stat in this one is that the Nuggets shot a blistering 59.5 percent (44 of 74) to improve to 5-1 at home.

The Heat will have to make some adjustments in their play, in order to slow down Denver (7-4), one of the few teams able to go toe-to-toe with Miami’s high-scoring offense.

Free Pick: Denver

Exactly one year ago, Denver scored 130 points in beating Miami at the Pepsi Center, although that was with an injured James watching from the sideline. Still, these are the top two highest-scoring teams in the NBA, so we could be looking at a shootout…and….ur maybe an overtime.

Either way, the veteran legs of the Heat have to be feeling a bit fatigued, and I think that will be just enough for a Nuggets win.
