NBA Playoff odds: Atlanta Hawks at Milwaukee Bucks, Game 3
Team records:
Atlanta: 53-29 SU, 48-34 ATS
Milwaukee: 46-36 SU, 53-28-1 ATS
The Milwaukee Bucks’ surprising season is inching closer to an end, and things could get really ugly with a loss on Saturday; Atlanta already leads the series 2-0 and is seeking a stranglehold in this first-round NBA Playoffs match up.
Matchup: Hawks vs Bucks
Time: Saturday at 7:00 p.m. ET
Venue: Bradley Center
Spread: Atlanta Hawks +1 (-115)
Milwaukee Bucks -1 (-105)
Total: 187
The Hawks have won six straight games dating back to the regular season, including back-to-back wins over Milwaukee in this playoff series. Atlanta won Game 2 96-86, which was good enough to cover the 7.5-point spread. The Hawks have been great at the sportsbook lately, covering five consecutive games against the spread.
The series shifting to Milwaukee shouldn’t pose too much of a problem; the team is 6-4 ATS in its last 10 road games.
Atlanta simply had too many players for Milwaukee to slow down on Tuesday. Joe Johnson led the attack with a game-high 27 points. Josh Smith was even more impressive, narrowly missing out on a triple-double with 21 points, 14 rebounds and nine assists.
Center Al Horford added 20 points and 10 rebounds for the Hawks.
The Game 2 defeat dropped Milwaukee to 1-4 in its last five games straight up. And, although the Bucks are 6-4 in their last 10 games against the spread, they’ve covered just once in their past five outings.
Playing at the Bradley Center offers little solace—Milwaukee has dropped back-to-back games against the spread there, and is just 4-6 on NBA odds in its last 10 home games.
Getting the injured Andrew Bogut back would be a big boost for Milwaukee, but it’s not happening. Without him, the starting five struggled mightily in Game 2. John Salmons managed a team-high 21 points, but he was the only starter to score in double figures; Brandon Jennings, Kurt Thomas, Carlos Delfino and Luc Richard Mbah a Moute combined for just 25 points. Jennings was just 3-15 from the field.
The bench was forced to carry most of the load, as Jerry Stackhouse (15 points) and Ersan Ilyasova (13 points) each netted double-digit scoring days.
Hawks vs. Bucks Free NBA Playoff Pick
Milwaukee’s feel-good story is over. There’s little doubt who will win this series; now it’s just a matter of who’s going to cover. Considering the roll the Hawks are on, there’s little reason to bet against them right now—they simply have too many weapons to hurt Milwaukee. And frankly, the Bucks look pretty harmless. Bet on Atlanta.
