NBA playoff odds: San Antonio Spurs vs. Phoenix Suns

Team records:
San Antonio: 50-32 SU, 44-37-1 ATS
Phoenix: 54-28 SU, 48-32-2 ATS

The NBA Playoffs kick off a new series tonight when the Phoenix Suns host the San Antonio Spurs.

Matchup: Spurs at Suns

Time: Monday at 10:30 p.m. ET
Venue: US Airways Center
Spread: Suns -4.5
Over/Under: 203.5

The Spurs surprised a lot of people by taking down the Mavericks in six games. San Antonio may be an older squad, but that hasn’t stopped the team from chipping away at the win column, going 6-4 in its past 10 games.

Still, the Spurs are just 5-4-1 at the sportsbook in those games. San Antonio has also struggled to cover on the road, going 5-5 in its last 10 games against the spread when playing away from home.

San Antonio relied on a pretty balanced scoring attack against Dallas. Manu Ginobili led the way with 19.0 points per game, followed closely by Tim Duncan at 18.2 points.

Duncan’s play over the second-half of the series is concerning, though; he averaged 25.6 points per game in his first three games, but managed just 32 total points over the final three. Online Sports Betting at Sportsbook

It’s not like he was reserving energy for the second round, either—he shot quite poorly, going 14-35 in those games. Tony Parker (15.8 PPG) and George Hill (14.3 PPG) played well in the backcourt.

The Suns topped Portland 4-2 in their first round series. When they won, they won big—Phoenix’s average margin of victory was 19 points. Phoenix is 7-3 both straight up and on NBA odds in its last 10 outings.

The Suns have been very sharp at home, too, going 8-1-1 against the spread in their last 10 games in Phoenix.

Jason Richardson had a huge first round for Phoenix. He led the team in scoring at 23.5 points per game, but was even better in their wins (28.0 points per game).

Steve Nash also had a fine series and flirted with averaging a double-double (15.0 points, 9.8 assists per game). Amare Stoudemire could afford to play better.

He finished second in scoring against Portland but his numbers were down from the regular season. Stoudemire averaged 20.5 points per game (compared to 23.1 in the regular season) and 5.5 rebounds per game (compared to 8.9 RPG).

Spurs vs. Suns Free NBA Playoff Pick

These teams have played pretty evenly over the past few seasons, but Phoenix has covered three straight meetings between the two. The Suns will push the ball up the floor and give San Antonio trouble keeping up.

Bet on Phoenix.
