Portland Trailblazers vs. Memphis Grizzlies Preview

On the season the Blazers are 41-44-1 ATS and they have an O/U record of 40-45-1 and the Grizzlies are 43-41-2 ATS and they have an O/U record of 35-49-2.

This season the Grizzlies are 33-10 at home and the Blazers are 19-24 on the road.

In Game 4 of this series in Portland the Blazers beat the Grizzlies 99-92.

The Blazers staved off elimination by winning Game 4 in Portland, but back in Memphis for Game 5 they are a 5.5 point underdog.

The Blazers lost Games 1 and 2 badly in Memphis and in both games they failed to shoot over 40% from the floor. They had lost all 6 regular season games against the Grizzlies before their win in Game 4.

The Grizzlies have the league’s 2nd ranked defense in terms of opponents’ points allowed and in winning 6 straight at home against the Blazers they have held them to an average of 89.3 ppg.

The Blazers have not won in Memphis since January of 2013.

In the Game 4 loss Zach Randolph and Marc Gasol did combine for 33 points, but on 13/36 shooting. These big guys have to pace the Memphis offense and if they shoot like that again tonigh the Blazers have a chance to extend the series.

Mike Conley is out for the Grizzlies in this game and while his offense will be missed his D will really be missed. He has played solid defense on Portland All Star G Damian Lillard, especially in the 2 games in Memphis, but in Game 4 Lillard went for 32 points on 12.23 shooting.

The Grizzlies dominated in the paint in the first 3 games of this series, but were outscored in the paint 42-38 in Game 4. Randolph and Gasol have to play well inside and get easy buckets near the basket.

LeMarcus Aldridge has struggled with his shot in the series, but has been scoring. However, the key to stopping the Blazers is keeping Lillard from having a big game and without Conley guarding him the other Memphis guards have to step up on D.

The Grizzlies have covered the spread in their last 5 home games facing the Blazers.
