ATS Matchup Insight | CappersPicks Insider Preview

The loss was the first of the postseason for a determined Heat squad. Many had wondered if the Nets even had what it took to be competitive in this series after dropping the first two games pretty convincingly, even though they swept their season series with the Heat, but Saturday’s win has made this a series again.

Joe Johnson scored 19 points on 7-of-10 shooting, knocking down five of his seven shots from beyond the arc, and Andray Blatche added a career playoff high 15 points and 10 rebounds to lead the Nets to victory. As a team, the Nets shot 15 of 25 from beyond the arc.

More impressive was the fact that the Nets were able to brush off a 16-point first quarter performance from LeBron James. James would end up leading the game with 28 points, filling out his stat line with eight rebounds, five assists, a steal, and a block, but it appeared he was in for a special kind of night after the first quarter, but the Nets wouldn’t let that happen.

Heat guard Dwyane Wade chipped in 20 points on 9-of-18 shooting in Game 3, while Chris Bosh was limited to 12 points and five rebounds.

A hiccup was expected from the Heat. It’s incredibly rare to see a team just run the table the way they have been. Expect to see the team bear down and get back to business on Monday. Their sights are set on the prize, and while the Nets will surely enjoy their moral victory, stringing wins together against the Heat is a tall order.

Additionally, the total for Game 3 came down despite an over in Game 4. The Heat had a bit of a defensive lapse in Game 3, and it’s unlikely we’ll see that from them again. Games 1 and 2 easily stayed under the total, and that should be the case once again here with a better effort from the Heat’s defenders. It’s also difficult to see the Nets shooting as well as they did from beyond the arc in Game 3, which will contribute to bringing the point total down.

The Heat are 4-1 ATS in their last five games overall, while the Nets are 1-4-1 ATS in their last six games following a win.

The under is 5-2 in the Nets’ last seven conference semifinal games, and 7-1 in their last eight games after scoring 100 or more points in their previous game.

The play: Miami -2.5, Under 187.5
