In a nutshell, here is what is facing the Chicago Bulls tonight as they take the court in what is generally acknowledged as a season-saving game in Miami: The Miami Heat have finally melded into a team that basically does whatever it wants on both ends of the court.

Offensively, either D-Wade and LeBron James is on the court for the entire game, so Chicago’s defense can’t afford to relax. It’s Miami’s version of the old 40 Minutes of Hell under the old Nolan Richardson Arkansas teams in the 1990s.

And with Chris Bosh out of the box and free to make jump shots (he’s averaging 18.3 ppg and shooting better than 50 percent from the floor), things are more than dicey for the Bulls defense.

There are even more troubling signs at the other end of the court. Wiithout Derrick Rose firing on all cylinders, this series is a good as over. And there are signs that Rose is wearing down. It’s impossible to underestimate the importance of Chicago’s Game 2 loss at home, when Rose was hounded into a 7-for-23 shooting night and missed all three of his 3-point shots.

But, even more ominously for the Bulls, he followed that up with an 8-for-19 Game 3 and was held to 20 points. Red flags are up everywhere when a player who absolutely has to score misses 27 of 42 shots.

All that said, the Bulls are just one win away from evening the series and taking back home-court advantage. Problem is, that win has to come in Miami, where the Heat have not lost since the playoffs started and the closest any opponent has been able to get at the final buzzer is 8 points.

NBA Trends:

CHI are 19-7 ATS in their last 26 Tue. games.
Under is 11-5 in CHI last 16 Tue. games.
Under is 6-2 in MIA last 8 vs. NBA Central.
MIA are 2-6 ATS in their last 8 vs. NBA Central.
MIA are 5-13 ATS in their last 18 Tue. games.
Home team is 7-3-1 ATS in the last 11 meetings.
Under is 11-5 in the last 16 meetings.

BEST BET: Early betting on this game has trended the Bulls’ way after Miami’s two victories have resulted in a fairly hefty line (Heat -5).

No doubt Bulls coach Tom Thibodeau is doing everything he can to quiet down the pace of the game, and even with Rose walking the ball up the court and the Bulls making this a half-court series, the over has covered two of three.

Feeling here is that if the Bulls had the answers to their problems, they would have used them by this point. Heat -5.
