ATS Matchup Insight | CappersPicks Insider Preview

Tim Hardaway Jr. scored 28 points off the bench and Amar’e Stoudemire put up 23 as host New York pulled away in the second half to beat Philadelphia to 123-110 on Monday.

Carmelo Anthony chipped in 22 points, nine rebounds and five assists for the Knicks, who moved within 3 1/2 games of Atlanta for the eighth and final playoff spot in the Eastern Conference.

New York (25-40) is playing well defensively, but the offense has been abysmal, ranking 21st in the league with an average of 98.4 points scored per game. However, it has averaged 114 points during its winning streak and will now aim to take advantage of the Celtics who have lost three of their last five, snapping a short two-game win streak after falling to Indiana, 94-83 on Tuesday.

Like the Knicks, the Celtics are playing well defensively, but the offense has been horrible, putting up just 95.6 points per game this season.

They did however, allow the Pacers to shoot 54.8 percent from the field while shooting just 35.2, and was also outrebounded 43-41.

Jared Sullinger had 17 points and nine rebounds and Kris Humphries added 15 points and nine rebounds for Boston (22-42) clinched its first losing season since 2006-07.

Sullinger scored 19 points in a 90-86 win over New York the last time the two met, as the Celtics overcame 16 turnovers.

Matt’s Prediction:

The Celtics and Knocks have met three times already this season, and Boston is 14-19 at home, a place where it beat the Knicks earlier this season.

Nevertheless, New York took the other two meetings at Madison Square Garden and have the edge here.

The Knicks have been playing well lately, and while I don’t like giving up points with this Knicks team, I just can’t see backing the Celtics in this spot.

Knicks 99, Celtics 94
