Both previous meetings have been highly competitive as the Spurs took game one by just 1 point and the Mavs took the 2nd by 6 points. With Dallas sitting just 2 games behind San Antonio in the loss column, games like these give both teams a chance to pick up a full game on the team they’re chasing.

San Antonio

The Spurs are getting the right players to step up at the right time of the season.

After it looked like age and fatigue was becoming a factor for the older aged Spurs, Tony Parker and company continue their surge in the Western Conference as they look to grab a big road win over a team sitting just a game behind them in the standings.

Currently, the Spurs sit in the 6th seed 12.5 off the pace of the Golden State Warriors. While the Spurs can just as easily fall out of the 6 seed, they are just 1 game behind the Clippers for the 5th seed.

The reasoning for the Spurs recent surge has been the play of Tony Parker. The PG is averaging nearly 20 points a game in his last 10 and continues to shoot at a high rate at 58 percent.

Contributing along side Parker is also Kawhi Leonard and Tiago Splitter. Leonard has stood out especially averring 20.0 points a game over his last 11.

On the road this season, San Antonio is currently 18-17 S.U.

Dallas

The Mavericks seem to roll when Monta Ellis is rolling.

On the season, Monta Ellis is averaging 19.0 points a game. However he’s scored well below that average the past two games as the Mavs have dropped both contests. The last time the Mavericks won a game, Ellis went for 21 points and 4 assists.

However, Monta Ellis and the Mavericks could be in for a big night as Ellis typically shines against the Spurs. Ellis is averring 25.6 points a game in 17 meetings against the Spurs.

The Mavs will also need a boost from PG Rajon Rondo. Rondo has struggled during the Mavericks current 2 game losing streak as he’s scored just 22 points combined. Rondo will need to pick up the scoring as fellow PG J.J. Berea is listed as out for Tuesday’s contest.

On the season, Dallas is 24-12 S.U. at home.

NBA Basketball Trends:

  • Spurs are 5-2 ATS in their last 7 games following a SU win of more than 10 points.
  • Spurs are 2-5 ATS in their last 7 Tuesday games.
  • Mavericks are 8-21 ATS in their last 29 games vs. a team with a winning S.U. record.
  • Mavericks are 3-8 ATS in their last 11 vs. NBA Southwes

With the season winding down, winning games, especially at home, in the playoff race is a must.

Dallas 103, San Antonio 95

The Mavericks get a big performance from Monta Ellis as they roll at home and jump into a tie for 6th place with the Spurs.
