Portland comes in off another loss, this time to the Golden State Warriors in which they allowed 122 points. Things will continue to be difficult for the Trail blazers as they once again could be without LaMarcus Aldridge on Wednesday. Utah also may have it’s problems as star Gordon Hayward is listed as questionable.

Portland

The Trail blazers continue to see the Loss column rack up as they are visibly a much different team without big man LaMarcus Aldridge in the middle. That may be the case once again on Wednesday as Aldridge is listed as doubtful for their contest with the Jazz.

[dfads params=’groups=63742&limit=1&return_javascript=0′]

LaMarcus Aldridge is averaging 23.5 points a game to go along with 10.4 rebounds a game thus far. Aldridge’s points and rebounds are obviously the biggest missing part for the Trail blazers, but just his presence alone, especially in the middle of the paint has been a big missing factor.

Portland is also going to be without Nicolas Batum and Chris Kaman once again as well. Batum is averring 9.4 points a game and Kaman is contributing 8.7 points a game. With both out, Portland is very thin in terms of depth.

With Damien Lillard needing to step up every single night, some help from his teammates is going to be a key. G C.J. McCollum helped out on Tuesday going for 23 points and 2 assists in the loss. Performances like that from multiple players is going to be what the Trail blazers need in order to right the ship.

Portland is just 3-5 without Aldridge this season.

Utah

The Jazz season was gaining some momentum, but their recent struggles have put them in all likelihood out of the playoff race. After winning 9 out of 10, Utah was making a case for themselves.

But now, they’ve loss 3 out of 4 and find themselves with substantial ground to gain against Oklahoma City for the 8th spot in the West.

Things will also not be any easier for the Jazz on Wednesday as leading scorer and star G Gordon Hayward is expected to miss the contest with Portland. Hayward injured his shoulder in Monday’s loss to the Timberwolves.

On the season, Hayward is averaging 19.6 points a game to go along with nearly 5 assists. Hayward has been the backbone to this young Jazz team that has kept them in the playoff race this long.

With Hayward out, Rudy Gobert will need to step up his game.

Gobert went for 18 and 17 in the loss to the Timberwolves and will likely need a repeat performance if the Jazz hope to grab a win on Wednesday.

NBA Basketball Trends:

  • Trail Blazers are 4-1 ATS in their last 5 Wednesday games.
  • Trail Blazers are 3-7 ATS in their last 10 games vs. a team with a losing S.U. record.
  • Jazz are 6-2-1 ATS in their last 9 games vs. a team with a winning S.U. record.
  • Jazz are 8-3-1 ATS in their last 12 vs. Western Conference.
