As they currently sit on the outside of the playoff picture, they’ll need him to step up over these final 2 games. However, after picking up his 16th technical foul of the season last game, he’ll be suspended for what is essentially a must win against Portland on Monday. Portland has nothing, but preparation ahead of them now as they’ve clinched the 4 seed in the West.

Portland

The Trail blazers are a unique situation in the Western Conference. While they’ve clinched the 4 seed as a division winner, they’ll open up the post season on the road as they hold the 6th best record in the conference.

That being said, they’ll look to get their momentum back, along with heal some of their injuries as they wrap up the 2014-2015 regular season.

Losers of 3 of their last 4, Portland hopes to regain it’s momentum following their 111-105 home loss to Utah. Portland watched Utah shoot 42 free throws in the defeat.

Battling an ankle sprain, F LeMarcus Aldridge sat out the contest for Portland. On the season, Aldridge is averaging 23.5 points a game, to go along with 10.3 rebounds. His status for Monday is listed as questionable.

The Trail blazers will be going for the season series sweep of Oklahoma City on Monday. In the most previous contest back on Feb. 27, Damian Lillard dropped in 29 as they went on to win 115-112.

Lillard comes in off a 28 point performance against Utah that saw him shoot 12 of 22 from the field.

Portland’s play on the road has been a major reason why they sit with the 6th best record in the West. Currently, they are just 19-20 S.U. away from Portland.

Oklahoma City

With Kevin Durant out for the season, Russell Westbrook has shown time and time again just how good he is. Scoring 54 points against Utah was just his latest feat, but it went for nothing as the team lost and he was suspended following his 16th technical. Head coach Scott Brooks is confident that the NBA will take away the technical and allow Westbrook to play on the Monday, but for the time being, it does not look likely.

Should Westbrook not be able to go on Monday, the Thunder could be in a lot of trouble in a must win spot.

Currently they sit tied for the 8 seed with New Orleans. They however do not own the tiebreaker and would be eliminated should these results hold.

While no win against Portland is guaranteed, their fate for the contest is essentially in the hands of the NBA offices as they will decide whether or not to allow Westbrook to play. If he doesn’t the Thunder’s whole offensive production will be gone.

The last time Oklahoma City played without Westbrook, they knocked off the Lakers 108-101.

NBA Basketball Trends:

  • Trail Blazers are 3-8 ATS in their last 11 when their opponent scores 100 points or more in their previous game.
  • Trail Blazers are 2-6 ATS in their last 8 vs. NBA Northwest.
  • Thunder are 4-1 ATS in their last 5 vs. NBA Northwest.
  • Thunder are 8-3 ATS in their last 11 games playing on 0 days rest.

Free 4* NBA Basketball Pick: Oklahoma City

While their are many factors that will keep bettors away from this game, lets just assume the NBA takes back the 16th technical foul.

Oklahoma City 103, Portland 95

Should they, Westbrook will be on a mission Monday as the Thunder cannot afford a loss. Westbrook and company take care of business and pick up a giant win.
