At the most important time of the season, the Pelicans have been playing without F Anthony Davis. Oddly enough, that hasn’t been a problem. New Orleans hopes to add to their season high 5 game winning streak. The Mavericks are looking to get back into the win column, as they come in off a home upset loss to Brooklyn.

New Orleans

The Pelicans have used a season best 5 game winning streak to climb to 5 games above the break-even mark and now sit just a .5 game behind Oklahoma City for 8th place in the Western Conference.

New Orleans’ win streak is really impressive because they’re doing it all without their top scorers.

F Anthony Davis has missed all 5 of the Pelicans wins during this streak as he injured his shoulder in the 1st quarter against Miami in the 1st victory.

F Ryan Anderson will miss at least 3 weeks following his knee injury and starting PG continues to miss time with a right leg injury.

So how is New Orleans winning without these guys? Tyreke Evans, Omer Asik, and Eric Gordon continue to lead the charge for the Pelicans. Evans dropped in 22 in yesterday’s victory over the Nuggets. Asik grabbed 16 rebounds and Gordon contributed 18 points in the win.

Razor Ray's Picks

The Pelicans will need similar performances from all 3 as they are likely going to be without Anthony Davis once again.

The Mavericks are going in the opposite direction as of late. Dallas has dropped 2 straight and now sit .5 game behind the Clippers for the 5 seed in the Western Conference. They come in off one of their most disappointing games of the season that saw Brooklyn dominate them in essentially every portion of the game.

PG Rajon Rondo returned to the lineup and grabbed 7 rebounds to go along with 6 assists in the loss. Rondo was suspended for a game for getting into a heated altercation with head coach Rick Carlisle. The drama could be serving as a distraction for the team.

F Dirk Nowitzki got back on track at least as he dropped in 20 points and grabbed 6 rebounds in the loss. He’ll have even more pressure on him in the coming games as Dallas is dealing with some major injuries.

Tyson Chandler and David Parsons both remain sidelined with injuries and aren’t expected back anytime in the near future. Dirk and Rondo will need to pick up the slack for the missing points and rebounds the two contributed.

At home this season, Dallas is 20-10 S.U.

NBA Basketball Trends:

  • Pelicans are 16-5 ATS in their last 21 vs. Western Conference.
  • Pelicans are 15-5-1 ATS in their last 21 games playing on 0 days rest.
  • Mavericks are 3-1-1 ATS in their last 5 games playing on 1 days rest.
  • Mavericks are 51-25-2 ATS in their last 78 games following a S.U. loss.

Free 4* NBA Basketball Pick: Dallas -8.5

Although both teams are heading in opposite directions, Dallas is still one of the better teams in the West.

Dallas 109, New Orleans 94

They know they need to get things turned around and we should see a dominating performance tonight from Dirk and company.
