Both match ups this season have seen both teams score well north of 100 points a piece. Things may not be as easy for Los Angeles this time around as now Chris Paul is questionable for this contest as he battles through a knee injury.

Minnesota

The Timberwolves have a become a team nobody wants to face down the stretch this season. While they only have 14 wins, they continue to put up fights against playoff caliber teams.

They’ll look to avoid a season series sweep from the Clippers when they head to Staples Center on Monday.

The Timberwolves come in knocking off a playoff caliber opponent last time they took the floor. Minnesota dropped in 121 points en route to a 121-113 victory over the Portland Trailblazers.

Leading the way for the Twolves was F Kevin Martin. Martin dropped in 29 points to lead the team. The 29 points sits well above his 20.4 season average per game.

Off the bench, the Timberwolves got a very impressive boost from G Gary Neal. Neal continues to impress the Timberwolves front office, as he dropped 27 points in.

[dfads params=’groups=63727&limit=1&return_javascript=0′]

He’ll look to repeat his 19 point, 9 rebound performance from March 2nd against the Clippers.

The Timberwolves bring in just a 5-23 S.U. record on the road this season. They’re allowing nearly 110 points per road contest.

Los Angeles

If things weren’t already tough enough for the Clippers, the absence of Chris Paul won’t help their cause in anyway. With F Blake Griffin and G Jamal Crawford already sidelined, Chris Paul’s status is listed as questionable for Monday with a knee injury. While X-rays came back negative for the guard, the Clippers aren’t taking any chances with the playoffs approaching.

Should Paul not be able to go, expect Austin Rivers to get the nod at point guard. Rivers is averaging just 7 points a game this season. However, he is coming off his most impressive performance of the season as he went for 22 points last time out against Portland.

Also boosting the Clippers could be newly free agent signing Nate Robinson. Robinson was signed to a contract just a couple days ago to help solidify the injuries the Clippers have been facing.

In the packed Western Conference, the Clippers currently sit 5th, just percentage points ahead of Dallas and 2 full games back from 4th seeded Portland.

Even though they’re taking the cautious approach with Paul, they’ll need him if they hope to avoid falling down to a worse seed.

NBA Basketball Trends:

  • Timberwolves are 7-0 ATS in their last 7 vs. NBA Pacific.
  • Timberwolves are 8-1 ATS in their last 9 when their opponent allows 100 points or more in their previous game.
  • Clippers are 5-2 ATS in their last 7 when their opponent scores 100 points or more in their previous game.
  • Clippers are 1-4 ATS in their last 5 games vs. a team with a winning % below .400

Free 4* NBA Basketball Pick: Los Angeles -8

This is tough to bet at the moment. If Paul does indeed play, the Clippers should have no problem covering the -8. The safe way to approach this game may be wait until game time, but the over 208 could also be something to look into.

Los Angeles 115, Minnesota 103

Minnesota can score and combine that with their 110 points allowed on the road, and we could be in for a shootout.
