The Heat and Wizards meet for the second time this season on Monday night when Dwayne Wade and company play the 2nd leg of their back-to-back against John Wall and the Washington Wizards.

Miami

Boosted by the return of Dwayne Wade, the Heat defeated the Knicks in Madison Square Garden Sunday night 86-79.

Wade scored 27, including 13 in the 4th quarter, to lead Miami. Chris Bosh fell just short of a double-double by contributing 20 points and 9 rebounds. Miami has had no problem playing back-to-backs thus far going 4-1 in the 2nd legs.

The Heat hope they can find some stability and consistency with Dwayne Wade back in the line up. Going 3-4 over the 7 games he missed, the Heat finally found somebody to step up in the 4th quarter Sunday night in clutch time. With Norris Cole struggling from the field recently, somebody else besides Wade or Bosh will need to contribute for Miami. Look for SF Luol Deng to be that guy as he recorded a double-double yesterday going for 10 points and 10 rebounds.

So far this season, Miami has played exceptionally well on the road going 5-2 S.U. and 5-2 ATS. However, in recent match ups in Washington, the Heat have gone just 1-4.

Washington

In their past two games the Washington Wizards have struggled to find their offensive grove. Scoring just 87 points in Cleveland Wednesday night, the Wizards followed up that performance with just 83 points at home against the Pelicans. They’ll need their leading scorer John Wall to step up when the Heat come to visit on Monday. Wall, who averages 18.1 points a game, has scored 17 points combined in the previous 2 games.

Washington C Marcin Gortat is coming off one of his best games of the season, scoring 24 points and recording 13 rebounds. He’ll have the tough task of guarding Heat C Chris Bosh Monday night. Bosh has killed the Wizards in recent match ups, scoring 24.5 points the last four times these teams have met.

While the Heat have played extremely well on the road, the Wizards have played just as good inside the Verizon Center. The Wizards are 6-2 S.U. and only allowing an average of 94.5 points per game.

Backers have not been thrilled laying points at home with the Wizards, as they’ve gone just 2-6 ATS

NBA Basketball Handicapping Trends:

  • Heat are 3-0-1 ATS in their last 4 vs. Eastern Conference.
  • Heat are 3-1-1 ATS in their last 5 games playing on 0 days rest.
  • Wizards are 2-6 ATS in their last 8 games overall.
  • Wizards are 3-9-1 ATS in their last 13 vs. NBA Southeast.

Monday NBA Basketball

Going into Monday nights Southeast division match up, Washington holds a 1.5 game lead over the the third place Miami Heat. A major concern for Miami Heat backers is whether or not Dwayne Wade’s hamstring is fully healed or not.

Free 4* NBA Basketball Pick: Washington -5

Although they’ve had success in back-to-backs so far, with Wade still having an injury lingering, its difficult to bet with Miami.

Washington 95, Miami 82

Fatigue should play a major role in the 2nd half as Washington pulls away in this one.
