The Grizzlies continue to struggle with out PF Zach Randolph, who remains questionable for Friday’s contest.

Memphis

After starting the season off at 21-4 and at times looking unstoppable, the Grizzlies have came back down to reality a little bit. Just 4-6 in their last 10 games, Memphis looks to bounce back from a 10 point loss to the Atlanta Hawks last time out.

PF Zach Randolph remains a game time decision come Friday night.

Memphis is just 4-5 without Randolph in the starting line up, who has been battling knee soreness. Randolph is averaging 16.1 points a game to go along with 11.4 rebounds. Finding somebody to step up and fill those two missing categories has been a challenge thus far.

The guy that’s been asked to step up is PF Jon Leuer. Leuer has yet to contribute anywhere closet to Randolph’s numbers as he’s gone for just 6.0 points and 3.9 rebounds a game. He’s had a combined 7 points and 9 rebounds over the Grizzlies last two contests.

Another problem for Memphis has been taking care of the basketball. Memphis is turning the ball over 16.2 times over their last 6 games. Those turnovers burned them on Wednesday as Atlanta had 19 points off Memphis turnovers.

Memphis comes into this contest with an 11-6 road record thus far.

New Orleans

The Pelicans fell back to a game under the break even mark on Wednesday when they fell in Charlotte 98-94. Anthony Davis continued his stellar season as he went for 32 points and 12 rebounds in the loss. Davis will look to rebound from his 14 point performance last time these two teams met.

The Pelicans have continued to play inconsistent basketball throughout the entire season. Ranking just 16th in scoring (101.2 PPG), and allowing 100.9 points a game (20th), the Pelicans are trying to find an identity for themselves and get back into a playoff spot.

While their 17-18 record would have them a middle of the pack team in the East, they currently sit 9th in the West with 3.5 games separating them from 8th place.

Stepping up lately for the Pelicans has been PG Jrue Holiday. Holiday has scored a combined 29 points to go along with 14 assists over New Orleans last two games. He’s averaging 15.3 points on the season with 7.2 assists.

The Pelicans are 11-5 S.U. this season at home and 10-6 ATS in those 16 contests.

NBA Handicapping Trends:

  • Grizzlies are 9-4 ATS in their last 13 games playing on 1 days rest.
  • Grizzlies are 9-19 ATS in their last 28 games following a ATS loss.
  • Pelicans are 5-2 ATS in their last 7 games overall.
  • Pelicans are 7-3 ATS in their last 10 home games.

Friday NBA Action:

This will be the 2nd meeting of 4 between the two teams. Memphis handled New Orleans back on November 3rd 93-81 in Memphis. The Grizzlies are also 17-2 against sub .500 teams on the season.

Free 4* NBA Basketball Pick: Memphis +2

In need of a win to get them back on track, Mike Conley will step up and lead the way Friday night. If Randolph plays, the Grizzlies and the points look even better.

Memphis 97, New Orleans 93

Either way, Memphis leaves New Orleans with a win Friday night.
