With Lebron James still down, the Cavs invade Oakland for a battle with the best team in the NBA, the Golden State Warriors.

Steph Curry and Klay Thompson lead the NBA’s best offense and look to continue to throw up another ridiculous point total against the struggling Cavs defense.

Cleveland

The Cavs just simply need to get back into the win column. Losers of their last 3, Cleveland gets set for the toughest challenge Friday night, stopping the Warriors offense. The 18th ranked defense (99.5 PPG) has been embarrassed and dominated as of late, and they’ll again be without star F Lebron James come Friday night.

With James down, PG Kyrie Irving has stole the show. Irving went for 38 points in the Cavs home loss to the Rockets on Wednesday. While Love grabbed 16 rebounds, the rest of the team was unable to step up and get points when needed. Cleveland has lacked a complete team effort so far this season.

The Cavaliers are scoring just 89.6 points a contest without Lebron in the lineup. The shooting numbers get worse as they are just 39.3 percent from the field. The front office has done whatever they possible can to help the cause out by acquiring the likes of J.R. Smith, Iman Shumpert, and now Timofey Mozgov.

Mozgov’s points and rebounds won’t impress anyone, but he could be the big body the Cavs need down low to protect the paint. Mozgov should be in uniform come Friday night.

Golden State

Scoring and winning have been two things Golden State has had no problem doing. Coming off a 117 point outburst, the Warriors look to add to their NBA best 28-5 record when they welcome in the reeling Cavaliers on Friday night. Golden State should have a good chance at doing so, as they are 15-1 at home this season.

League leaders in points per game (109.2) and assists per game (26.5), the Warriors are absolutely dismantling teams as of late. During their 5 game winning streak, their closest margin of victory has been 13 points.

While Steph Curry continues to lead the way, Golden State is getting help from and contributions from everyone, including C Andrew Bogut who returned from injury. Bogut scored 4 points and grabbed 8 rebounds in his return to the line up on Wednesday night.

Marreese Speights and Draymond Green are just two of the contributors for Golden State. The pair has averaged 11.0 points (Green) and 18.3 points (Speights) over the last four contests.

Golden State brings a 13 game home winning streak and an 11-0 record vs the East into this contest.

NBA Handicapping Trends:

  • Cavaliers are 2-5 ATS in their last 7 road games.
  • Cavaliers are 2-6 ATS in their last 8 vs. Western Conference.
  • Warriors are 19-7 ATS in their last 26 home games.
  • Warriors are 35-16 ATS in their last 51 games overall.

While all trends and recent play point to Golden State blowing out Cleveland on Friday, the Cavs have to be sick of their recent struggles. Expect a solid effort from them, but stopping Curry and company isn’t going to be easy.

Golden State 115, Cleveland 108

The Cavs put up a fight, but in the end, Golden State’s fire power is too much to overcome in a high scoring affair.
