Just went it looked like Paul Pierce had hit the dagger three point shot to steal the Wizards home court advantage, Al Horford came literally flying in and laid in what turned out to be the game winning bucket with just over a second left.

Now, instead Washington will look to survive as they host Game 6 of the Eastern Conference Semi Finals. Atlanta will look to put an end to the series and book a date with the Cleveland Cavaliers.

Atlanta Hawks

Atlanta trailed for most of Game 5 at home, and it looked as if Washington was going to cruise to the finish line and steal home court.

With the aid of a 14-0 4th quarter run, Atlanta jumped in front. After witnessing Paul Pierce silence the crowd with a 3 ball, Al Horford came to the rescue as he brought down an offensive rebound and put a lay up in with just over 1 second to play.

Atlanta kept par and grabbed a 3-2 series lead and now will be in a position to try and clinch the series on Friday.

Al Horford is easily leading the charge for the Hawks as he recorded his fourth double-double in the series on Wednesday. Horford went for 23 points and 11 rebounds in the Game 5 victory which capped his 3rd straight double-double.

Jeff Teague has played probably his best set of games this series, but decided to bench himself in the last 5 minutes of Game 5. The unselfish move was in large part to Dennis Schroder playing well on both the offensive and defensive ends.

Schroder did a little bit of everything going for 6 points, grabbing 5 rebounds, and dishing out 7 assists in the win.

Atlanta will look to steal Game 6 and head home for a date with 2nd seeded Cleveland in the  Eastern Conference Finals.

Washington

Washington has shown no fear, no backing down, and extreme aggressiveness in this series. However, after all that, they are just one game away from staying at home for good and putting an end to their 2014-2015 campaign.

That being said, spirits remain high as the Wizards know the crowd inside the Verizon Center will be rocking as they look to force a deciding Game 7 with a win on Friday.

John Wall played through multiple fractures in his hand and ended up finishing with 15 points and 7 assists in the Game 5 loss. He did turn the ball over 6 times, a definite lingering affect to his ailing hand.

Expect Wall and fellow guard Bradley Beal to be the leaders on Friday. Beal is averaging 24.4 points a game this series and has 4 20 point performances. He’ll need to have one of those performances again on Friday if Washington hopes to force a Game 7.

Beal was held scoreless by Schroder over the last 6 minutes of Game 5 as he watched Atlanta ensue on a 14-0 run.

Beal will likely have to deal with Schroder once again as he is expected to get more minutes in Game 6.
