A road trip to Minnesota might not be ideal weather wise but winning is always welcome.

Phoenix

The Suns won last night and carry a three game winning streak into Minnesota this evening. Phoenix has been playing very well lately, winning 8 of their last 10, solidifying their standing at the bottom of the Western Conference playoff table.

This is a spot where they have to get a win if they are going to really compete, playing Minnesota in the second of back to back is about as cushy as it gets. The Suns have been better on the road than at home this season so things should work out.

Phoenix has a glut of guards and I wonder if that makes them better suited to tight scheduling because those kinds of players should be less affected right – the numbers don’t bear this out but is makes sense (they are about .500 in these situations). More important this evening is that their guards are exponentially better than Minnesota’s.  Goran Dragic, Eric Bledsoe and Isaiah Thomas can all explode in any one game.

Minnesota

The T-Wolves have the worst record in the Western Conference and have only one win more than Philadelphia. After trading away Kevin Love we all knew that this season was going to be lost but wasn’t there supposed to be some talent coming back.

Thus far I have really been unimpressed with top pick Andrew Wiggins. Minnesota seems to be dripping with potential but my hunch is not that much of it is going to meet expectations in the very near future. I am not sure they are better than Philly and playing in the West they are bound to slip beneath them.

Andrew Wiggins is the leading scorer on this club and he basically can’t shoot so you know this team is in trouble on offense. Kevin Martin is an established NBA scorer but he is out of the lineup and that means that there are just too many shots for the likes of Shabbazz Muhammad and others.

Center Nikola Pekovic had a career year last season but he is out too and even when he has been on the court he has been terrible.

NBA Handicapping Trends:

  • Suns are 6-0 ATS in their last 6 games vs. a team with a losing S.U. record.
  • Suns are 4-0-1 ATS in their last 5 road games vs. a team with a home winning % of less than .400.
  • Suns are 6-0 ATS in their last 6 road games vs. a team with a losing home record.
  • Timberwolves are 1-7 ATS in their last 8 games playing on 1 days rest.
  • Timberwolves are 1-5 ATS in their last 6 home games.
  • Over is 5-1 in Timberwolves last 6 games playing on 1 days rest.
  • Suns are 5-1 ATS in the last 6 meetings in Minnesota.
  • Under is 6-2-1 in the last 9 meetings in Minnesota.

NBA Prediction:  Phoenix -8.5

Not a ton of value here but the Suns are the play.

NBA Score prediction:    Phoenix 107 – Minnesota 94

It is hard to think of situations where you could be confident with the T-Wolves.
