I like the promise of Minnesota for the future but this one could have crickets at Staples.

Minnesota

The Timberwolves have won only seven road games all season so even though they are playing woeful L.A. this is still going to be a challenge.

Minnesota has lost 8 in a row and things are going to be very bleak the rest of way because they just can’t keep anybody healthy, save rookie Andrew Wiggins. PG Ricky Rubio has now been ruled out for the season.

That might mean more highlight reel material from the likes of rookie Zach Lavine but he struggles with getting the team going.

In Wiggins and Kevin Martin the Wolves have two very good wing scorers that compliment each other. Martin has all the old school moves and can be a dangerous three point shooter while Wiggins can always beat his man and get to the hoop.

The rest of the lineup is filled with question marks, especially on the offensive end. When those guys are not taking the shots their offense can look pretty bad.

Los Angeles

For the second season in a row they have lost more than 50 games, that is the first time that has happened in franchise history.

This has certain all been a lost season but if they are not careful it will go down as the worst in Lakers history, no surprise given the limited talent and the fact that injuries have killed these guys beginning with now retired Steve Nash to Kobe Bryant to Swaggy P, Nick Young.

With the guys the Lakers have been putting on the court I am surprised they actually have a better record than the Wolves.

On bad teams it is hard to tell sometimes if players are producing or are just the beneficiaries of playing time. Rookie PG Jordan Clarkson looks like one of those players but maybe they have something.

He is quick and has good size for the position. In the last game he started I the backcourt with Jabari Brown, a rarity in that they were teammates at Missouri just a year ago.

That has to help them both a little and they can play free and easy with nothing to lose.

NBA Betting Trends:

  • Timberwolves are 0-5 ATS in their last 5 after allowing 100 points or more in their previous game.
  • Over is 5-1 in Timberwolves last 6 games following a ATS loss.
  • Timberwolves are 1-5 ATS in their last 6 games following a S.U. loss.
  • Under is 6-1 in Lakers last 7 games following a ATS loss.
  • Lakers are 1-6-1 ATS in their last 8 games playing on 1 days rest.
  • Under is 6-1 in Lakers last 7 when their opponent allows 100 points or more in their previous game.
  • Under is 5-2 in the last 7 meetings.
  • Timberwolves are 12-5-1 ATS in the last 18 meetings in Los Angeles.
  • Under is 9-4 in the last 13 meetings in Los Angeles.

4* NBA Betting Prediction:  Los Angeles -6.5

I can’t believe I am backing the Lakers in this favourite role.

NBA Score Prediction:  Los Angeles 99 – Minnesota 89

There is not a ton going on with this team but the same can be said about Minnesota too. Someone is going to win and I think the Lakes buck up and get this one.
