However, they can still make the playoffs if they take care of business.

Los Angeles

The Lakers are actually coming off a win heading into this one as they beat Philadelphia the last time out. This has been a terrible season for Los Angeles as they have suited up players who probably shouldn’t even be in the D League.

Kobe has been out for the season for a while and now Nick Young is out indefinitely too. The only positives lately is that Steve Nash retired.

If you can really call it that. I don’t think anyone was expecting to throw on the purple and gold any time soon.

I suppose one positive if the emergence of Jordan Hill. It has only taken the better part of a decade but he is averaging double digit points this season while providing the Lakers with some toughness.

They have recently added Jabari Brown to the roster and the rookie is showing he might have a little game as he has been making shots. I liked his game at Mizzou much better than I like his current and then teammate Jordan Clarkson’s.

Oklahoma City

Right now the Thunder are in that final playoff spot in the West with 2.5 games to spare.

The news just came down that they are shutting down KD for the rest of the season and it will be interesting to see how the team responds.

A slide would not surprise and there is some speculation about a tank job because their chances of bagging Golden State, or anybody else, without him are pretty slim. Serge Ibaka is out indefinitely too but this team has worked pretty hard to claw into the playoff picture so I just don’t see it.

Russell Westbrook is coming off another triple double as they head into this one. He scored only 12 points against Miami but chipped in 17 assists and 10 rebounds. I don’t see how he would not be the MVP this season.

He is leading the league in scoring and averaging 9 assists and 7 rebounds. In terms of support Enes Kanter is averaging a double-double since joining.

Maybe the Lakers win provides a slight buying opportunity.

I think the Thunder will stay strong and keep winning. They are 5-1 ATS since Ibaka went down.
