With their depth and the altitude they can really make a team work.

Houston

Normally a start like they are having in Houston would garner a lot of attention but thanks to the Warriors within the Conference and the Grizzlies within the division it is almost hardly being noticed that the team is off to an 18-5 start.

They are not even close to missing Chandler Parsons – who they still shouldn’t have let go.

This team is second in the league in scoring defense and they are looking better than last year’s run and gun team in terms of being a legitimate contender.

James Harden is all everything for the Rockets right now.

The team is winning despite not having had the services of Dwight Howard for half the season and Harden has picked up his game by averaging nearly 7 rebounds per contest.

Terrence Jones has missed most the season too creating an opportunity for Donatas Montiejunas to step out of the shadows.

If this team can ever get fully healthy they will be a force.

Denver

The Nuggets have been struggling lately. They lost to the Rockets last week on the road and in a twist of scheduling went on to play San Antonio (a loss) while the Rockets have been resting up for this trip to the Rockies.

Denver is not a very efficient offensive club but they push the pace to create more possessions which is why they are in the top 10 in scoring in the league.

They are not a great team by any stretch but they are kind of difficult to prepare for because who knows what they are going to do from game to game.

In the loss to San Antonio Arron Afflalo scored a season high 31 points. He is not elite at the SG position but I think this team will be a lot better if they can find a leading scorer that is not PG Ty Lawson.

You want him to take advantage of opportunities not be looking for his own offense all the time. Spark plug rebounder Kenneth Faried may not suit up for this one.

Even though Houston is missing their key bigs the Nuggets need this guy in the lineup to play the style they want.

NBA Handicapping Trends:

  • Under is 8-1 in Rockets last 9 games following a SU win of more than 10 points.
  • Under is 12-2 in Rockets last 14 after scoring 100 points or more in their previous game.
  • Under is 14-3 in Rockets last 17 games following a ATS win.
  • Nuggets are 0-6 ATS in their last 6 games playing on 2 days rest.
  • Under is 4-0-1 in Nuggets last 5 when their opponent scores 100 points or more in their previous game.
  • Under is 6-1-1 in Nuggets last 8 overall.
  • Rockets are 0-4 ATS in the last 4 meetings in Denver.
  • Over is 5-1 in the last 6 meetings.
  • Rockets are 2-9 ATS in the last 11 meetings.

NBA Prediction:  Houston -3.5

No reason to think the Rockets are going to stumble in this one.

4* NBA Score prediction:  Houston 97 – Denver 91

They are a nice value play midweek against the Nuggets who they drubbed less than a week ago. Take Houston
