Free NBA Pick: Celtics vs. Hawks Gambling Lines & Preview

NBA Gambling: Boston vs Atlanta

The Atlanta Hawks 9-6 (8-7 ATS) have won four of their last five games and will host the Boston Celtics 4-10 (5-9 ATS). Boston has lost four consecutive games and seven of their last eight games overall. Visit Cappers Picks daily to read our latest free NBA picks all season long.

These two teams are heading in the opposite direction right now, but I do think that the point spread has been set a little high.

This game is going to be tight, but before I make my pick lets look at the odds.

Atlanta is 7-2 at home this season while the Celtics are just 2-3 on the road. The Hawks have been a bit of a surprise in the East, as they’re currently fourth in the conference and second in the Southeast.

The Hawks have been winning due to their offense. They’re scoring 103.4 PPG (9th), but the defense isn’t as strong and Atlanta is allowing 101.5 PPG (23rd), which has been a problem at times this year.

One other area the Hawks need to work on is rebounding, as they average 39.8 RPG (27th). With Horford and Millsap in the frontcourt this team should be putting up better rebounding numbers.

Horford still seems to be working on his game, as he hasn’t been playing too good yet. He’s scoring in double digits (13.5 PPG), but he only averages 6.5 RPG. So far Teague has been the best Hawk player.

[dfads params=’groups=63727&limit=1&return_javascript=0′]

Teague is averaging 18.0 PPG, 7.2 APG and 1.33 SPG. Boston comes into this game with similar stats to the Hawks. The Celtics are averaging 103.4 PPG (10th), 42.6 RPG (12th) and 25.0 APG (2nd).

The defense has been very soft as well. Boston is giving up 107.6 PPG (28th) and if they’re unable to shore up the problems on defense this team isn’t going to get out of the basement in the East.

This team runs through Rajon Rondo who is averaging 9.3 PPG, 7.4 RPG and 10.5 APG. Rondo’s scoring has been very sporadic, but he just fills up a stat sheet and is extremely important to this Boston team.

I’ve been impressed with Jeff Green (17.6 PPG) and Jared Sullinger (16.0 PPG & 8.4 RPG) as well. These are two important pieces to the future of the Celtics and both have been playing great this season.

Free NBA Pick: Boston Celtics vs. Atlanta Hawks

Dating back to last year the Celtics are 5-3 SU against the Hawks in the H2H series. Most of the action will be on the Hawks at home because of their great record and current win streak, but go with Boston.

4* Play On: Boston Celtics +6.5 (-110)

The Celtics may not win this match-up, but the point spread is too big in my opinion. Boston comes into this game rested and they should be able to win the rebounding battle and keep this game close.
