The Hawks will be looking to get to .500 on the road at MSG.

Atlanta

Atlanta is expected to compete for a playoff spot this season.

With a healthy Al Horford in the post they have the makings of a solid lineup though they don’t really have players with high ceilings.

This far they have won all their home games, including their last one against the Knicks on Saturday night, and lost all of their games on the road.

Given the opponent that looks like a trend that could easily change on Monday. This is a good situation for the Hawks.

On Saturday night Kyle Korver torched the Knicks.

Though known as one of the best marksman in the league he was still able to get off 9 three pointers, making six for a game high 27 points. Because he was on fire nobody played more minutes but that is unlikely to be true on Monday.

This time the Hawks would be better served to use their dominance up front.

They won despite Horford having a terrible night with just 6 points and 6 boards.

New York

It has been a tough start for the Knicks. Expectations were low despite the arrival of Phil Jackson in an executive role but things have been hampered further by the fact that they have not had starting PG Jose Calderon in the lineup yet this season.

He is a quintessential pass-first PG and he was supposed to make things work with Carmelo Anthony in the Triangle Offense.

Without him steering the ship things have looked a little ragged at times and that is saying a lot for the Knicks.

Nobody on the Knicks is off to a good start. Carmelo Anthony is averaging less than 20ppg and they are leaning so much on Amare Stoudamire that he is actually leading the team in rebounding (before he falls apart).

The Knicks are not only missing Calderon but they are also without his primary backup Pablo Prigioni and Andrea Bargnani.

Those are three important scoring options and their absence is being felt big time.

NBA Handicapping Trends:

  • Over is 6-0 in Hawks last 6 road games vs. a team with a home winning % of less than .400.
  • Hawks are 0-5 ATS in their last 5 games following a ATS win.
  • Over is 14-3 in Hawks last 17 road games vs. a team with a losing home record.
  • Knicks are 5-1 ATS in their last 6 after allowing 100 points or more in their previous game.
  • Over is 9-2 in Knicks last 11 home games vs. a team with a road winning % of less than .400.
  • Knicks are 1-4 ATS in their last 5 games overall.
  • Under is 6-2 in the last 8 meetings in New York.

The Hawks are a good bet to get their first road victory of the season Monday night.
