Atlanta Hawks

The Atlanta Hawks are on a roll. How much of a roll, you ask? Simply: Call them butter.

The Atlanta Hawks have a league-best 19-game winning streak. That winning streak is certainly a byproduct of playing in a watered-down Eastern Conference, but winning against some of the league’s best team’s adds legitimacy to this group’s winning record.

Against New Orelans, the idea is to avoid a trap game. A borderline-, yet underachieving-playoff team out West has talet. The problem is bringing it all on a nightly basis.

Atlanta is sixth in the league in points scored, but more importantly, it’s second in points allowed.

The Hawks are allowing 96.1 points per game compared to 103.4 points scored, which is why the team is making such a stand entering February.

New Orleans Pelicans

Bad news: The Pelicans are going up against the hottest team in the NBA on Monday. Good news? They’re slated to get back their superstar: Anthony Davis.

If the Hawks can get a win on Monday, it will make 20 in a row for the East coast contenders. More specifically, it will be the fourth-longest record in NBA history.

New Orleans doesn’t want to give that one up.

“We’re very, very fortunate to have three guys on the wing that really take a lot of pride in defending,” coach Mike Budenholzer said, via ESPN.com. “Kent was everywhere (against Philadelphia). He was on a lot of different people, doing a lot of different things. … He’s been growing and coming in the right direction along with the whole group. I’m happy for him. He’s such a hard worker.”

Unfortunately, this team is going up against the team with the NBA’s best record.

This one will come down to how well Atlanta plays — not vice versa.

NBA Handicapping Trends:

  •  ATL are 19-7-1 ATS in their last 27 Mon. games.
  • ATL are 42-18 ATS in their last 60 games overall.
  • ATL are 24-6 ATS in their last 30 road games.
  • Under is 8-2 in NO last 10 overall.
  • NO are 21-8-1 ATS in their last 30 home games.

4* NBA Prediction: ATL -6

While there are plenty of reasons to buy into a newly healthy New Orleans team, there’s simply no  reason to bet against the Hawks at this point.

Until Atlanta loses, keep looking its way. With a spread of three points in its favor, you might be able to gander at a New Orleans wager.

Six, however, is easy looking at the Hawks. Look at Atlanta straight up, but as long as the line is six, look at them SU as well.
