Dallas Mavericks vs. Golden State Warriors Preview
The Mavericks (53-22) are coming off a big loss to the Lakers, which dropped them 1.5 games back of L.A. for the 2nd spot in the Western Conference and they look to get back on track facing a Warriors (32-44) team that has lost 8 of their last 10 games.
In their last games the Mavs lost badly 110-82 and the Warriors lost to the Memphis Grizzlies 110-91.
Dallas has been a much better team to wager on this season at 40-33-2 ATS and Golden State at 36-39-1. The Mavericks have covered the spread in 4 of their last 5 games against the Warriors.
Golden State has lost all 3 games against Dallas this season. When these 2 teams met for the last time in Dallas on March 20th the Mavs routed the Warriors by 28 points and Golden State only shot 35.1% from the floor and 25% from behind the 3-pt line. The Warriors do not have a lot of inside offense and they will have to drain the 3 to beat Dallas.
The Warriors can score ranking 6th in the league in points per game and they will have to since their D is terrible ranking 29th in the league in points allowed. In their last 10 games they have given up at least 100 points in every game. The Golden State scorers of Monta Ellis (24.1 ppg) and Stephen Curry (18.3 ppg) will really have to light up the scoreboard against the Mavs.
The Warriors are also a bad team on the boards and they, especially David Lee, has to keep Tyson Chandler (9.4 rpg) and Dirk Nowitzki (7 rpg) from killing them on the boards. Nowitzki has averaged over 26 ppg and 7 boards per game against Golden State this season.
The Mavs’ Jason Terry (16.1 ppg) was ejected in the loss to the Lakers and the league may review his shove on Steve Blake and suspend him for this game, but as of Friday that has not happened.
The Warriors are playing bad defense, but they are 9 games above .500 at home and they will play well and cover the spread.
