ATS Matchup Insight | CappersPicks Insider Preview

While the Mavericks may have lost two in a row, those losses came against a red-hot Bulls team, then at always tough San Antonio. They’ve had two days off since then, and will look to get back to their winning ways in Colorado. The Mavericks haven’t lost three in a row all season.

The Mavericks are fighting hard to stave off the hard charging Grizzlies for the eighth playoff spot in the Western Conference. The team’s consecutive losses has helped to narrow that lead to just a single game over Memphis. The Mavericks will need to really ramp up their defensive play in the second half of games if they hope to remain in the postseason picture. The Mavericks have given up 51.2 points per game in the second half of contests this season, the fifth-highest mark in the Association this season, and were outscored by 17 points in the second half of their last two losses, allowing a combined 113 points in those two games.

As for the Nuggets, they’re happy to have point guard Ty Lawson back in the lineup. Lawson return to action on Monday against Minnesota after a nine-game absence, and didn’t look like he’d missed a beat. Lawson hit on 11 of 16 shots from the field and three of four from beyond the arc, finishing with 31 points, 11 assists, four rebounds, and four steals. His presence has been crucial to the Nuggets’ success this season, as the team has gone 22-24 when Lawson has played, and 3-10 when he hasn’t. The Mavericks certainly know Lawson’s value – he’s averaged 19.5 points and 10 assists on 57.1 percent shooting in the two meetings between the teams this season.

The Mavericks will hope to match some of that scoring from a pair of shooting guards. Monta Ellis had 47 points on 55.2 percent shooting in the two meetings between the teams earlier this season, and Vince Carter has averaged 18.8 points over the team’s last five games.

The Mavericks are 41-16 ATS in their last 57 road games, while the Nuggets are 1-5 ATS in their last six home games, and 3-10 ATS in their last 13 games overall.

The Mavericks are 6-0 ATS in their last six trips to Denver, and the road team is 11-2 ATS in the last 13 meetings between these teams.

The play: Dallas -4.5
