NBA Sports Betting Clippers @ Bulls

The Los Angeles Clippers (7-17 SU, 10-14 ATS) look like they are making some progress lately. On Wednesday night they will visit the Windy City to take on the Chicago Bulls (11-13 SU & ATS) in NBA pro basketball sports betting action that is set to tip off at 8:30 PM ET at the United Center in Chicago.

BetUS NBA Basketball Betting Odds: CHICAGO -3, Total 195.5

Here are some of the NBA pro basketball sports betting trends as they relate to this matchup:

* LA has won four of its last five games SU
* LA has lost 18 of its last 25 games SU
* LA has lost 19 of its last 24 road games SU
* CHI has won five of its last six home games SU

Also….

* LA has covered four of the last five meetings
* LA has won 13 of the last 16 meetings SU
* LA is 7-2-1 ATS in the last ten meetings as the road team
* LA has won seven of the last eight meetings SU as the road team
* Five of the last six meetings in Chicago have gone OVER the total
* CHI has had the rebounding edge in four of the last five meetings
* CHI has made more three-pointers in seven of the last ten meetings

You’re probably wondering why the Bulls are such a short favorite against a team with a 7-17 record, which has lost 19 of its last 24 games on the road. Well, one of the reasons is probably because the Clippers are in a rare hot stretch where they have won three games in a row. The three straight came as the road team as well, and they are starting to look like the team that was visualized when they went out and spent a lot of money signing people like Baron Davis and Marcus Camby.

Another newcomer who has brought something to the table for Mike Dunleavy’s team is Zach Randolph, who has averaged almost 24 points a game on 51% shooting since coming over from the Knicks in a trade. As it stands now, L.A. can put a front line of Camby, Randolph and Al Thornton out there which is not half bad and when Chris Kaman returns from his foot injury (around Christmas) it should get even better. Last night in Oklahoma City the Clippers did what was expected and then some, beating the Thunder by ten points. Randolph chipped in 22 points, Davis added 19 and rookie Eric Gordon scored 22. Gordon has started eleven games and has scored 20 points or more in three of them.

The Bulls lost to Charlotte last night, allowing the Bobcats to break a seven-game losing streak. One good piece of news is that Chicago’s Ben Gordon has averaged 27 points in his last three games as a starter. The bad news is that they could not handle rookie point guard D.J. Augustin, who hit for 29 points against Derrick Rose. The worse news for Chicago is that they were outscored by a 16-7 margin in overtime, a sign of a tired team and a team that is not making good decisions when it counts.

This has been a curious series in that the Clippers, as woeful as they have been, have had a big edge over the Bulls, winning seven of the last eight meetings at the United Center and winning 13 of the last 16 overall. Here the matchup may be all wrong for Chicago once again, as a team that does not have a lot of effective inside scoring as it is will be kept on the perimeter where they have been inconsistent (overall: 44% from the field). It’s safe to say they’ll have to hit better than 33% from three-point range (as they did against Charlotte) in this one.

We’re going to take the points with the Clippers, the three-point underdog in the BetUS Sportsbook NBA pro basketball betting odds.
