Friday NBA Betting –  Cavaliers Will Flex On Improving Bobcats

The Cleveland Cavaliers and Charlotte Bobcats were two of the more active teams at the NBA trade deadline and both came off as winners. While the Bobcats are clearly an improving team, the Cavaliers are now at a different level. After losing on Thursday night to the Denver Nuggets, they’ll play with some fire and beat one of the teams that may challenge them in the conference for years to come.

What’s Happening With The Cavaliers

The Cavaliers were already a team that made it to the Eastern Conference Finals last year, they were already a team that boasted the best record in the NBA this season, yet they still found a way to add an All-Star caliber player like Antawn Jamison.

The Cavs made the right move to acquire Jamison instead of Amare Stoudamire because Jamison is more of a team player, a better leader and a better defender. Add him to Shaquille O’Neal, LeBron James, Mo Williams and the best team in the NBA already and you’ve got yourself one heck of an NBA contender.

What’s Happening With The Bobcats

Very quietly, Larry Brown has turned around the Bobcats. First, it started with defense. Now that the team has an identity, they are still to put the pieces in place. While they still lack an inside scoring presence, the hope is that Tyrus Thomas can provide that boost for them at some point.

The Bobcats have a solid backcourt with Raymond Felton and Stephen Jackson, Gerald Wallace is blossoming under Brown and Nazr Mohammed is playing out of his mind.

This is a good, young team that is coming together and they are en route for their first playoff berth in franchise history. If they stay on this track, they’ll be contending with the Cavaliers in a couple of year’s time.

Outlook & Pick

The Bobcats are improving, but they aren’t on the level of the Cavaliers. With the Cavs having a new weapon in tow, they are going to want to put on a show. Both teams are solid defensively, so it won’t be a pretty game to watch but the Cavaliers just have more weapons. With O’Neal inside and James on the outside, with Jamison starting or coming off the bench with J.J. Hickson to follow, the Cavs just have too many weapons for the Bobcats to handle.

Pick: Cavaliers -4
