Chicago Bulls vs. Orlando Magic Preview
The Magic (40-22) are coming off a HUGE win last night coming back from 24 down to beat the Miami Heat and now face another legit title contender hosting the Chicago Bulls (41-18). NBA lines have the Magic as 2-point favorites in this game with a total of 188.
In their last games The Magic beat the Miami Heat last night 99-96 while the Bulls lost to the Atlanta Hawks 83-80 on Wednesday night.
The Bulls have been a good team to lay some green on at 35-22-2 ATS while the Magic have not at 29-32-1 ATS. The Magic have covered the spread 4 times in their last 5 games at home against the Bulls.
The Bulls have lost 6 straight in Orlando and if they are going to snap that streak All Star PG Derrick Rose (24.6 ppg) has to break out of his slump. He was horrible in the loss to the Hawks only going 5/21 from the floor and he had 6 turnovers. On top of that he struggled in both games against the Magic this season. That is not surprising since Orlando ranks 5th in the league in opponents’ points allowed.
Chicago’s Luol Deng (17.7 ppg) has to help Rose out on offense and when he scores at least 19 points the Bulls are 23-5 this season.
Dwight Howard leads the league in rebounding (13.9 rpg), but he will need help on the boards tonight. The Bulls rank 2nd in the league in rebounds per game led by the duo of C Joakim Noah (11.9 rpg) and PF Carlos Boozer (9.7 rpg).
The Magic are one of the best 3-point shooting teams in the league and they will have to hit the long ball tonight so the Bulls do not pack the lane to contain Howard. The Bulls rank 2nd in the league in opponents’ points per game and if they can play good D on Howard and not allow the likes of Jason Richardson, Hedo Turkoglu, and J.J. Reddick from bombing away from deep they have a great shot to win this tough away game.
The Magic have a ton of confidence after last night’s win and they will play well in front of their home crowd. Rose will continue to struggle and the Magic will win this game and cover the 2-point spread.
