2008-09 Washington Wizards Wagering Preview

Okay NBA BetUS Sportsbook faithful, I’m going on record once again to rip the Washington Wizards (43-39 SU, 46-36 ATS, 44-38 O/U) after giving them the benefit of the doubt all of last year.

Now the gloves are off and I’m going back to ripping the Wizards every chance I get!

I mean, really bettors, the Wizards have displayed the same high-scoring, no-defense-whatsoever, style of play ever since head coach Eddie Jordan took over as head coach six years ago.

Despite having three legitimate all-star players on the roster, the Wizards have been beaten by the Cleveland Cavaliers’ one-man gang of LeBron James in each of the last three seasons.

Now, after keeping their core group of players intact by signing point guard Gilbert Arenas and forward Antawn Jamison to long-term deals this offseason, the Wizards are hoping to make it out of the first round for the first time in four seasons.

Arenas will miss approximately the first month of the season because of an arthroscopic procedure on his left knee, after getting rewarded with a $111 million contract this offseason.

“The good news is that I’m going to finally be OK — that’s the good news,” Arenas said. “It’s frustrating because of the way things have gone recently. I just want to get better and get on the floor and be healthy, put this behind me.”

The Wizards drafted athletic, but raw 7-foot center JaVale McGee out of Nevada but also made a huge mistake by allowing hometown shooting guard Roger Mason to leave the club for the greener pastures of San Antonio.

Despite their glaring lack of defense, the Wizards ranked sixth overall in ATS wins last season, Washington averaged a solid 98.8 points per game (14th) but allowed 99.2 points per contest defensively.

Washington is +2000 to win the Eastern Conference title and +3500 to win the NBA Championship in the BetUS Sportsbook.
