San Antonio Spurs vs. Golden State Warriors Preview

The Spurs were red-hot shooting in Game 5 and their D shut down the G duo of Stephen Curry and Klay Thomson. If that happens again there will not be a Game 7 in San Antonio. NBA lines have the Spurs as slight 1.5-point road favorites with a total of 195.5.

In Game 5 the Spurs beat the Warriors 109-91.

On the season the Spurs are 45-44-2 ATS and they have an Over/Under record of 40-49-2 and the Warriors are 51-41-1 ATS and they have an Over/Under record of 52-40-1.

This season the Warriors are 32-14 at home and the Spurs are 26-19 on the road.

In Game 5 the Spurs played great defense on the duo of Curry and Thomson, as they only combined on 13 points on 6/24 shooting. These guys need to give Golden State scoring and they also need to attack the rim and get some easy points from the charity stripe. In Game 6 this duo did not attempt 1 free throw.

Jarrett Jack and Harrison Barnes were solid in Game 5 combining for 45 points, but Curry and Thomson are key, as that game showed if they struggle the Warriors struggle.

The Spurs were hot shooting in Game 5 with a FG% of 51.9%. Tony Parker went for 25 points and Danny Green went for 16 and each of these guards shot over 50% for the game.[ad-6571516]

The Warriors need to defend the 3 better in this game not giving the Spurs open looks from deep. In Game 5 the Spurs buried 10 of their 21 3-pointers for a 3-pt FG% of 47.6%.

In an interesting fact San Antonio has won 11 of 12 best-of-7 series when they are leading 3 games to 2. On the other side of the coin the last time the Warriors came back from being down 3-2 was back in 1975 when they went on to win the title.

In some betting trends for this Western Conference playoff match up the Spurs are 3-10 ATS in their last 13 games following a S.U. win, 3-12 ATS in their last 15 games vs. a team with a winning S.U. record, and they have an Under record of 12-3-1 in their last 16 road games.

The Warriors are 5-1 ATS in their last 6 home games, 19-7 ATS in their last 26 games overall, and they have an Under record of 5-2 in their last 7 games.

The underdogs is 4-1 ATS in the last 5 games between the Spurs and Warriors.

Jason’s Pick: I like the Warriors, but I think the Spurs will not waste a chance to close out this series and they will win and cover tonight.
