Things are getting hot in Atlanta as the Magic and Hawks are literally sparring to see who will make it to the next round in the Eastern Conference. The Magic need to rebound again to even the series and their ability to do so is looking less and less likely. Again in game 3 it was the Magic’s struggles from the perimeter that did them in.

Jason Richardson, who has been pretty invisible this whole series, is likely to sit out this one with a suspension. So will his fight club partner Hawks centre Zaza Pachulia. Talent wise this is a much bigger loss for the Magic as the Hawks were only using Pachulia to lean on Dwight Howard. Howard was solid but not Superman in game three.

With Richardson out they need another other worldly performance from him for Orlando to even this one up.

The Atlanta Hawks are looking to take command of the series by getting up 3-1 with another home victory. Most felt this team sleepwalked through the regular season but they seem to be wide awake now. Especially Jamal Crawford, the supersub whose scoring is reminiscent of “The Microwave” back from the Pistons hey days.

The Hawks are at home and the pressure is all on the Magic right now. Given how quickly that altercation blew up in game three the favourite Magic might be feeling a little too tight right now which could play to the Hawks advantage. I am expecting that Zaza Pachulia will not be eligible for the game today but the Hawks still have enough beef to play “Hack a Howard” if they want to.

This series was supposed to be an afterthought in the grand scheme of the playoffs but not it is turning into must see TV.

Betting Trends:

Under is 8-2 in ORL last 10 vs. NBA Southeast.
ORL are 6-17 ATS in their last 23 games overall.
Under is 36-15-1 in ORL last 52 Sun. games.
Under is 36-15 in ATL last 51 vs. NBA Southeast.
Under is 13-3 in the last 16 meetings in Atlanta.
Under is 21-7 in the last 28 meetings.

Free Magic vs Hawks Pick: Orlando really has the look of a team whose season is over. They will be pushed to the brink with a loss in game 4. I am surprised they are still getting the kind of respect that has made them a 2 point favourite.

Score prediction: Atlanta 99 – Orlando 96
