NBA Betting – 2012 Championship Futures

The All Star game is approaching and that means half the season is almost over. While Miami has the best odds to win the NBA Championship many other teams are in the mix and have legit odds.

Let’s look at the top 10 teams that have the best odds to capture the NBA title.

Miami Heat (+165)

LeBron and company have been solid all season and they have the 2nd best record in the East and the best home record. James is not settling for jumpers, as he is getting to the hoop and has to be the leading MVP candidate so far. His 2 sidekicks of Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh are playing well and, unlike last season, the Heat are winning with their offense not their D. Still, can the Heat win it all without a true center or PG?

Oklahoma City Thunder (+425)

The Thunder have the best odds out of the West and they have played great all season. Kevin Durant and Russell Westbrook are getting it done and super 6th man James Harden may have been an All Star snub. OKC has a great offense, but their D only ranks 20th in the league.

Chicago Bulls (+450)

The Bulls have the best record in the NBA and are the deepest team in the league, but Derrick Rose and his back injury is a big concern in the Windy City. Chicago has the best road record in the league and their offense ranks 9th in scoring and they have the league’s 3rd best defense. If Rose can stay healthy and Rip Hamilton can get healthy they will give the Heat a run for their money.

L.A. Lakers (+1000)

The Lakers are back on track after a slow start and while Kobe is leading the league in scoring and Andrew Bynum is an All Star starter Pau Gasol on the trading block may be a team distraction. It would really help Kobe out if L.A. can get some backcourt help.

L.A. Clippers (+1200)

The Lakers are not the only team in La La Land any longer and Chris Paul and Blake Griffin have the Clippers headed towards the playoffs. However, the loss of Chauncey Billups was big and the team has struggled on defense this season.

San Antonio Spurs (+1400)

Do the Spurs have one more title run in them? It looks like it lately, as they have won 11 straight recently and that is even without Manu Ginobili, who is out for a couple more weeks. Tony Parker has been on fire lately and Tim Duncan has proved he has some gas left in the tank.

Dallas Mavericks (+1600)

Dirk and the Mavs have rebounded after a terrible start and even though they lost Tyson Chandler in the off-season their D is plying great. The Mavs know how to win, but getting out of the West may be harder this season with OKC on fire and San Antonio poised for another run.

New York Knicks (+1800)

Linsanity has hit the Big Apple with Jeremy Lin playing out of his mind in leading the Knicks back in the playoff race. It will be interesting to see how the Knicks will play when Carmelo Anthony and Amare Stoudamire are healthy. J.R. Smith was a solid pick up and New York may be a team that will be dangerous come playoff time. [soliloquy id=”82219″]

Philadelphia 76ers (+2500)

The 76ers have been one of the big surprises this season and they currently lead the Atlantic Division. Their D is the bets in the league, but they have hit a slump as of late and I do not think they have the talent to get out of the East much less win it all.

Portland Trailblazers (+3000)

The Blazers are a great team at home, but are well under .500 on the road. Also, they have struggled in the last couple weeks and while PF LaMarcus Aldridge was finally given his due with an All Star nod it was recently announced that C Greg Oden will miss another season because of his gimpy knees.

Here are the futures odds to win the NBA title as of February 21st.
