Last week I cashed-in on Jimmie Johnson as my favorite pick with his win at Texas at +600 betting odds. Kevin Harvick was right back in the mix of things by taking second and Dale Earnhardt Jr. made his presence felt by finishing third.

Turning to this Sunday’s race, the following are my top picks for favorite, contender and longshot based on current betting odds as provided by Sportsbook.ag.

The Favorite (odd of less than 10/1)

Going against Harvick as a favorite is always a risky proposition, but seeing how it worked last week at Texas, I am going with Joey Logano at +600 as my top favorite in this Sunday’s race.

The No. 22 car has been a factor in almost every Sprint Cup event this season and, with a win at Daytona being the center piece of six top-10 finishes in seven races, this team is currently second in the Sprint Cup standings with 280 total points. Logano claimed his first career victory at Bristol in a Sprint Cup point race in the second event here last season which only adds even more value to these odds.

The Contender (odds from 10/1 to 19/1)

It is only a matter of time before veteran driver Jeff Gordon starts lighting things up in his final season racing fulltime in the Sprint Cup series, so I am figuring why not this Sunday as my top contender at +1200 betting odds.

The No. 24 car continues to move in the right direction after a slow start out of the gate with fourth-straight top-10 finishes including a seventh-place finish in last week’s race. It has been awhile since Gordon last won a Sprint Cup race at Bristol, but he still has made five trips to Victory Lane in his storied racing career.

He has shown some decent form here lately with four top-10 finishes in his last seven runs around this track.

The Longshot (odds 20/1 or greater)

The odds drop off rather quickly this week given the short track venue at Bristol, but I believe there could be some solid value in Kasey Kahne as a +2000 longshot.

The No. 4 race team has had its struggles going back to last season in which it squeezed into the Chase with a late-season win at Atlanta only to finish 15th in the final Sprint Cup standings.

There have been some encouraging signs lately with a fourth-place finish at Phoenix and an eighth-place finish last week at Texas, but what really added the value to these odds was Kahne’s victory in this event in 2013.
