Last Sunday at Watkins Glen, Joey Logano made his way to Victory Lane for the second time this year. Kyle Busch took second as my top favorite pick and Kevin Harvick ended-up third.

The following is a look at my top favorite, contender and longshot to win this Sunday’s Sprint Cup race at Michigan based on betting odds provided by Bovada.

The Favorite (odds of less than 10/1)

Sometimes the best bet when it comes to NASCAR’s Sprint Cup is to simply go chalk and that is what I am doing this week with Kevin Harvick as my top favorite at +500 betting odds.

It could be a great time to ride the No. 4 car considering it has been close to five months since this team has crossed the finish line first.

The simple fact that Harvick has accumulated a total of 13 Top 5 finishes in addition to two wins over the course of his first 22 points races makes him way overdue for a win.

His 29th-place finish this season in the first race at Michigan may be cause for some concern, but this followed a string of four-straight second-place finishes in a Sprint Cup race at this track.

The Contender (odds from 10/1 to 19/1)

I probably use Dale Earnhardt Jr. as either a favorite or contender a bit too often, but this week it just makes plain good sense to jump on his +1000 odds to win. The consistency and the form is present with the No. 88 team after winning twice and finishing in the Top 5 another nine times this year.

However; what really adds the value to his odds is the special place this track holds in his heart.

A 2012 victory at Michigan broke one of the longest winless streaks for a top driver in the Sprint Cup series and he came close to winning again this season with a second-place finish in the first race here.

The Longshot (odds 20/1 or greater)

I have been digging deep down the list for longshots lately, but I really like this week’s pick of Paul Menard at +6600 betting odds. Driving the No. 27 car this season, he has placed in the Top 5 twice and the Top 10 twice including an eighth-place finish in the first race at Michigan this year.

What really adds value to such long odds is the fact the Menard has placed fourth in each of his previous three runs around this track in a Sprint Cup race.
