Dale Earnhardt Jr. became the fourth Sprint Cup driver to post multiple victories in a point race this season by taking the checkered flag at Pocono this past Sunday afternoon. Brad Keselowski finished second and Kurt Busch rounded-out the top three.

The following is a look at my top favorite, contender and longshot to win this Sunday’s race based on odds provided by Bovada.

The Favorite (odd of less than 10/1)

I went with Dale Earnhardt Jr. as my contender pick last week and cash-in on his 12/1 odds to win. This time around I am going with him as an 8/1 third-favorite to pay off again with a win this Sunday as well.

The No. 88 race team has had one of the most consistent cars this season with seven top-five finishes in the first 14 point races of the year. There is also value added in these odds with Junior’s past track record at Michigan.

He finished way out of contention in both races last year, but a victory in this event in 2012 was the one that snapped an extremely long winless drought in the Sprint Cup series.

The Contender (odds from 10/1 to 19/1)

Kyle Busch has been quiet the past month or so with five-straight finishes of ninth or higher in his last five point races. He has been opened at 12/1 to end that slide with a trip to victory lane this Sunday.

Given the fact that he is the type of driver that can win any race he is in, I really like the value in these odds. The No. 18 car won earlier in the season at Fontana and it is currently in sixth-place in the Sprint Cup standings with 443 total points.

Busch’s only career victory at this track in a Sprint Cup race came in the second race here in 2011 and he finished fourth in this event last year.

The Longshot (odds 20/1 or greater)

When looking for value in a driver for longer odds, I tend to focus my attention on both current form and how a driver did in last season’s event. Clint Bowyer appears to fit the bill in both categories in light of his 20/1 odds to win this week.

The No. 15 car is still searching for its first Sprint Cup victory this season, but recently it has come close with a third-place finish at Talladega and a fourth-place finish in the race at Dover just two weeks ago.

It also helps that Bowyer has raced well at Michigan over the past several seasons with a top-10 finish in his last six trips around this track in a Sprint Cup race.
