Coca-Cola 600 Gambling Preview

NASCAR’s Sprint Cup series remains at Charlotte Motor Speedway for the second-straight weekend for the running of this year’s Coca-Cola 600 on Sunday night as part of the Memorial Day Weekend festivities.

NASCAR Sprint Cup- Coca-Cola 600 Preview and Prediction

Odds By Bovada

The race is set to get underway at 6 p.m. (ET) and it will be broadcast nationally on FOX.

Jamie McMurray claimed the $1 million prize in last week’s non-point All Star Race at Charlotte followed by Kevin Harvick, Matt Kenseth and Dale Earnhardt Jr. Carl Edwards rounded out the top five in that race.

The following is a look at my top favorite, contender and longshot to win this Sunday night’s race based on odds provided by Bovada.

The Favorite (odd of less than 10/1)

Kevin Harvick has been opened as one of two favorites to win this race at 6/1. The other is Jimmie Johnson, but I am going with Harvick as my pick in this category based on current form and his recent results at this track.

The No. 4 car has already made its way to Victory Lane twice this season with wins at Phoenix and Darlington to become just one of two race teams with multiple Sprint Cup point race victories this year.

The real reason I like Harvick in this race is the fact that he comes in as the defending Coca-Cola 600 champion. He also won this race in 2011 and he has posted six top-ten finishes in his last seven Sprint Cup races at Charlotte.

The Contender (odds from 10/1 to 19/1)

I went with Dale Earnhardt Jr. as my top contender at 10/1 in last week’s race at Charlotte and I came very close to cashing-in. This week he has been listed at 12/1 to take the checkered flag so I am following suit by making him my top pick again.

The No. 88 race team has been one of the most consistent in the Sprint Cup series so far. It started the season in a big way with a victory at Daytona and it has come close to posting another victory a number of times with five additional top-five finishes.

Charlotte has not been one of Junior’s favorite tracks lately especially in a disappointing 39th-place finish in last year’s race, but I am riding his current form all the way in this one.

The Longshot (odds 20/1 or greater)

Clint Bowyer has drawn some long odds to win this race at 20/1, but I do see some solid value in those odds.

The No. 15 car has placed in the top 10 in three previous times this year including a third-place finish at Talladega a few weeks back. Bowyer is no stranger to the Winner’s Circle at this track after winning the fall race at Charlotte in 2012.

He remained competitive in last year’s Coca-Cola 600 with an eighth-place finish after starting fifth and he was seventh in this race in 2010 as part of five career top-10 finishes here.
