NASCAR Sprint Cup FedEx 400 Preview and Prediction
Race: FedEx 400 at Dover International Speedway
Date: Sunday, June 2, 2013
Time: 1 p.m. (ET)
Broadcast: FOX

Kevin Harvick notched his second victory of the season by taking the checkered flag in last Sunday’s Coca Cola 600 at Charlotte. Kasey Kahne raced his way to a second-place finish and Kurt Busch took third.

The following is a closer look at our favorite, contender, and longshot picks for this Sunday’s race with odds provided by Sportsbook.ag.

The Favorite (odd of less than 10/1)

Last Sunday’s 22nd-place finish was not one of Jimmie Johnson’s better outings this season, but he is still in first place in the current Sprint Cup standings with 445 points. The No.48 car has built its 32-point lead behind two previous victories and four other top-five finishes in the first 12 point races of the season.

It also notched a victory in this year’s non-point All Star Race two weeks ago at Charlotte. Adding even more value to Johnson’s +400 odds to win this Sunday is the fact that he comes in as the defending champion of the FedEx 400 as part of seven career Sprint Cup victories at this track.

He has dominated the Monster Mile over the years with an average finishing position of 8.6.

The Contender (odds from 10/1 to 19/1)

Brad Keselowski is still in position to successfully defend his 2012 Sprint Cup title with 335 points that has the No.2 car sitting in 10th-place in the standings, but he is going to have his work cut out for him if cannot improve upon his current form. [ad-8757089]

Keselowski is still searching for his first checkered flag this season, but after coming close earlier in the year with four top-five finishes, he has not cracked the top 15 in his last four races.

The defending champ still offers some solid value in his +1200 odds to win this race after taking the checkered flag in the second race here last season.

The Longshot (odds 20/1 or greater)

It has already been a tale of two seasons through the first 12 races for Dale Earnhardt Jr.

After guiding the No.88 car to top-10 finishes in his first five races including a second-place finish at both Daytona and Fontana, he has only cracked the top 10 twice since then. Junior is still sitting in sixth-place in the standings with 364 points, but he has been opened at +2000 to win this week.

Dover has never been one of his favorite tracks with just one Sprint Cup victory at the Monster Mile, but he did finish fourth in last year’s race.
