NASCAR Sprint Cup Good Sam Roadside Assistance 500 Preview and Prediction

Betting ON Good Sam Roadside Assistance 500 Gambling Odds

The Sprint Cup series heads to the fabled this week for the running of the Good Sam Roadside Assistance 500, which is the fourth race of this season’s Chase to the Sprint Cup title.

NASCAR Sprint Cup Good Sam Roadside Assistance 500
Race: Good Sam 500 at Talladega Superspeedway
Date: Sunday, Oct.7, 2012
Time: 1 p.m. (ET)
Broadcast: ESPN

Sunday afternoon’s race is set to get underway at 1 p.m. (ET) and it will be broadcast nationally ESPN.

Brad Keselowski notched his second checkered flag in the first three races of this year’s Chase with a victory last Sunday at Dover. Jeff Gordon ended-up second and Denny Hamlin finished third.

The following is a closer look at our favorite, contender, and longshot for this Sunday’s race along with their current odds to win as provided by WagerWeb.

The Favorite (odds of less than 10/1)

We had to make an exception for this race when it came to the odds since there is no driver opened at lower than +1000 to win on Sunday. The current point leader, Brad Keselowski has been opened at +1200 but has to be considered a favorite, given his current form and recent performance at this track. The No.2 car has already won two of the first three races of this season’s Chase and has five overall victories this season. One of those five was in the first race at Talladega this season. Keselowski also took third in this race last season and has a total of two victories and three other top-10 finishes in just seven career starts at this track. [ad-8757089]

The Contender (odds of 10/1 to 19/1)

Five-time Sprint Cup champion Jimmie Johnson has put himself in excellent position to add a sixth title with back-to-back second-place finishes and a fourth-place finish in the first three races of this year’s Chase. The No.48 car has been opened at +1200 to win this Sunday, but some of the value is lost with its recent performance at this track. Johnson finished 26th in last year’s race and ended-up a distant 35th in the early race at Talladega this season with engine problems. He has won here twice to go along with seven other top 10 finishes over the course of his career.

The Longshot (odds of 20/1 or higher)

It is slim pickings if you are looking to take a flyer on a longshot this week as every driver in the Chase has odds lower than +2000. Joey Logano has been opened right at +2000 and Jeff Burton has been opened at +2500. Logano posted a victory in the first race at Pocono this season and does have three-straight top-10 finishes in his last three point races. Burton has just two top-five finishes this season, but he did finish second in this race last season and 10th in the first race at Talladega this year.
