Sunday’s race is scheduled to start at 12:00 p.m. and it will be broadcast nationally on ESPN.

Kasey Kahne improved his chances to make it into the Chase with a win at New Hampshire in the last Sprint Cup race with Denny Hamlin capturing second and Clint Bowyer taking third.

The following is a closer look at our favorite, contender, and longshot for Sunday’s race along with their current odds to win as provided by Sportsbook.

The Favorite (odds of less than 10/1)

It is easy to see why Jimmie Johnson is the favorite to win on Sunday at 6/1 in light of his current form and past success in this race. He has raced his way to seven top-10 finishes in his last nine races including victories at Darlington and Dover. The No. 48 car is currently in fourth-place in the Sprint Cup standings with 656 points and now just 51 points out of first. Johnson’s last two trips to the Brickyard ended poorly with a 22nd-place finish in 2010 and a 19th-place finish last season, but he would be a lock to win this year if he can return to the form that posted three victories in his previous four races here from 2006 to 2009. The Contender (odds of 10/1 to 19/1)

There are a handful of drivers opened at 10/1 to win this race, but the most value in these odds goes to the current Sprint Cup point leader Matt Kenseth. He has risen to the top of the standings with 707 points as a result of nine top-five finishes in the first 19 point races including a victory in the biggest race of the season, the Daytona 500. The No.17 car has been one of the most consistent race teams this year and comes into this week with eight top-10 finishes in the last 10 point races. Kenseth has also been very consistent at this track with six top-10 finishes in his last 10 races here including a fifth-place finish in last year’s race.

The Longshot (odds of 20/1 or higher)

Clint Bowyer’s third-place finish at New Hampshire comes on the heels of his stunning victory in the road race at Sonoma in late June. This recent run has the No.15 car currently in ninth-place in the standings with 614 points as it continues to fight for a spot in this season’s Chase. Bowyer has been opened as a 25/1 longshot to win this week. He finished 13th last year at the Brickyard, but came very close to winning this race in 2010 with a fourth-place finish after starting sixth.
