The fifth Sprint Cup point race of the season takes NASCAR all the way back out to the West Coast this Sunday for the Auto Club 400 in Fontana, California. Brad Keselowski and the No.2 Miller Lite car took the checkered flag last Sunday at Bristol for his first win of the year.

The NASCAR Sprint Cup series pulls into Martinsville, Virginia this week for the running of Sunday’s Goody’s Fast Relief 500 at Martinsville Speedway.

Tony Stewart notched his second victory of the season in last Sunday’s rain-shortened Auto Club 400, with Kyle Busch finally making his presence felt this year with a second-place finish. Dale Earnhardt Jr. climbed to third place in the point standings with a third-place finish at Fontana.

The following is a closer look at our favorite, contender, and longshot picks this Sunday’s race with odds provided by Bovada.

The Favorite (odds of less than 10/1)

Fans of Denny Hamlin and the No.11 racing team have to be excited over this season’s victory at Phoenix as this may be a sign that he has returned to his racing form of 2010 when he won eight Sprint Cup races.

Hamlin has an excellent chance to add a second victory to this season’s resume at a track he has completely dominated over the past few years.

This week’s 9/2 favorite has found victory lane in four of the last seven races at Martinsville including victories in this race in 2008 and 2010. He finished 12th in this race last season but that was the just the second time in 13 career Sprint Cup runs at this track that he finished out of the top 10. [ad-8757089]

The Contender (odds of 10/1 to 19/1)

Dale Earnhardt Jr. has failed to take the checkered flag in 134 consecutive Sprint Cup point races, but you get the feeling that this dubious streak is very close to coming to an end. He has already finished second at Daytona to go along with last week’s third-place finish and is currently third in the standings with 178 points.

This week, Dale Jr. has been opened as a moderate longshot at 15/1 to get that elusive win, but comes into this race with four top-10 finishes in his last five races at this track including a second-place finish in last year’s Goody’s Fast Relief 500.

The Longshot (odds of 20/1 or higher)

Matt Kenseth is currently sixth in the standings with 173 points and just 22 points out of first.

He has already notched a victory in the Daytona 500 and finished second two weeks ago at Bristol, so there is little question about his current form. Kenseth has an average finishing position of 16.5 in 24 races at Martinsville and just seven top-10 finishes and no wins, so it is easy to why he has been opened at 25/1 to win this week.

Despite his past performance at Martinsville, there is serious value in these odds given his current form and the fact that he finished sixth in this race last year.
