Overall, 12 Cup races have been run at Kansas and 2011 marks the first year with two races here in one season. Greg Biffle, Jeff Gordon and Tony Stewart each have two Kansas wins, while Gordon leads in the average finish category. Biffle will lead the field to green Sunday with Carl Edwards on the outside pole. Gordon starts 10th, while Stewart is the lowest-qualifying Chase contender at 23rd.

Safe Bet: (odds of less than 10/1)

• Carl Edwards (8/1): Edwards is in a statistical dead-heat for the points lead with Kevin Harvick, despite having won three fewer races this year. Though he’s never won at Kansas, he has finished as high as 2nd (2008) and ran 5th in June. As noted above, he will start from P2 on Sunday. [ad-8757089]

Mid Range: (odds between 10/1 – 20/1)

• Greg Biffle (18/1): Biffle is a two-time winner at Kansas, with victories in 2007 and 2010, and will start from the pole on Sunday. Aside from his first race here in 2001, he has never finished lower than 12th. Winless so far this year, Biffle would very much like to score a ‘W’ before the season ends and Kansas may present one of his best opportunities.

Long Shot: (odds of greater than 20/1)

• Clint Bowyer (22/1): In six starts, this native Kansan has two top-10 finishes, including a 2nd in 2007. With the long-anticipated announcement Friday that he is moving to Michael Waltrip Racing next season, Bowyer should be in a good frame of mind to go for broke in front of his home-track fans on Sunday.

Summary:

It’s worth noting that Toyota has never won a Cup race at Kansas. Four of the last five Kansas races have been won from a top-10 starting spot.
