2009 Lenox Industrial Tools 301 Predictions – Betting Preview + Picks + Odds
Race: Lenox Industrial Tools 301 at New Hampshire Motor Speedway
Date: Sunday, June 28, 2009
Time: 2:15 PM EST (scheduled green flag)
TV: 12:30 PM EST on TNT
Preview: It’s been a series of very different race tracks the past few weeks – from the challenging 2.5 miles at Pocono to the fast 2-mile Michigan oval, the winding road course of Sonoma, and this week, a flat 1.058-mile track in Loudon, New Hampshire. The race is 301 laps (318 miles) – an extra lap added last year to convey race sponsor Lenox Tools’ desire to “go the extra mile” for race fans.

Safe Bets:
1. Jimmie Johnson (+500): Johnson swept Loudon in 2003 and has four straight top 10s here, including a second-place finish last September after also leading the most laps. Johnson also runs extremely well at Phoenix, a track often compared to Loudon as a flat one-miler.
2. Tony Stewart (+800): Like Johnson, Stewart has also won twice at Loudon and typically runs well at Phoenix – and it’s hard not to select the guy leading the points, particularly on a track where he’s been strong. Stewart’s wins both came in the July race (2000, 2005) and he’s finished second here twice.
Dark Horse:
1. Jeff Burton (+2500): RCR hasn’t been as strong this year as they were last, but Burton leads all drivers in wins at Loudon with four – though all of his wins were in the year 2000 or prior. Burton finished fourth here last September.
Summary: Hearing reports that scattered showers are in the forecast throughout the weekend, which may affect things should qualifying be rained out. This race begins the final ten-race stretch before the start of the Chase, which will kick off at the same track in September.
