Philadelphia Phillies vs. New York Yankees – Friday, June 18th 7:05 P.M
Minnesota: 38-28 SU
Philadelphia: 34-30 SU

Interleague Baseball Gambling Lines:

Line:Minnesota + 120, Philadelphia -130
Total: Over/Under 10

For the first time since 2002 the Minnesota Twins will travel to Philadelphia to play a three game interleague weekend series with the Phillies starting tonight at 7:05 from Citizens Bank Park.

Minnesota has won the first game of their last six series. They are currently 38-28 and have a 1 ½ game lead over Detroit in the AL Central. They are 15-15 SU on the road but just 3-7 SU in their last 10. As an underdog they are 9-12 ATS and against the over/under line they are 28-33-4.

Tonight will be right hander Nick Blackburn’s turn in the rotation for Minnesota. In 12 starts this season he has a record of 6-3 with an ERA of 4.96. In his last outing against Atlanta, he pitched seven strong innings giving up six hits and two earned runs but did not get the decision.

The Twins bats have been decent so far as they have a team batting average of .270, sixth in the AL.

They have scored 307 runs in 66 games for a 4.65 runs per game average. Justin Morneau (76 hits, 43 RBI’s and 13 HR’s) and Delmon Young (57 hits, 41 RBI’s, and 8 HR’s) have led the way.

Philadelphia has struggled over the past month but their ability to take two out of three from the Yankees in New York this week is just what they needed to break out of their slump.

They are 34-30, 3½ games in back of Atlanta in the NL East. At home they are 16-13 SU and as the favorite they are 23-21 ATS. Against the over/under line they are 27-35-1.

In their last 20 games at home, 14 have stayed under the total.

The Phillies will go with Joe Blanton as the starter in this one. It has not been the best of seasons for the right hander as he is 1-5 with a 7.28 ERA in his eight starts this season. He hit rock bottom his last time out giving up 13 hits and nine earned runs in four innings of work against Boston. Over his seven year career he has a lifetime ERA of 4.34.

With 16 runs in their three games against the Yankees, the Phillies finally looked like the team that has won the National League the past two seasons.

On the year they have scored a total of 288 runs in 64 games for an average of 4.5 runs per game. They have three players in the lineup with over 40 RBI’s led by Ryan Howard’s 46.

Minnesota has the edge on the mound tonight as it is hard to know what to expect from Blanton after getting shelled in his last start.

Despite this, expect the Phils to outslug the Twins to come away with the win.
