Pitchers Report for Tuesday September 22nd

A look at the hot and cold pitchers going today. The information you need to know whether it is for fantasy baseball or wagering contests. We personally have fallen into a combination of bad luck and bad sports picks to be honest. On Monday night we had the Dolphins who dominated the game with 200 yards rushing and dominated the time of possession at 45 minutes, but lost the game!

That was a combination of bad luck and a bad pick because I should have known Manning could move the ball against the Dolphins. However, I have always bounced back! It’s what has kept me in the business! Tuesday’s hot and cold pitchers is an interesting report as we have seven total pitchers that have ERA’s under 3.00 in their last 5 starts, but just 4 cold starters with ERA’s over 6.00 in their last 5 starts.

Make sure you read below so you know what to do here on Tuesday for your sports betting advice.

Probable Hot Starting Pitchers:

Hiroki Kuroda (Dodgers)

Kuroda does not have the best pitching stats here on Tuesday over his last 5 pitchers. However, guys like Greinke, and Jurrjens have been on this many times and you all know the ins and outs of those pitchers by now. Tonight I’m going to give you the run down of the Japanese pitcher.

Kuroda throws strikes! That is what I love about him and on the road opponents are hitting an amazing .36 points lower than on the road. That’s is mainly because teams are a bit more patient at home than they are on the road. Kuroda has never faced the Nationals before and I think this is an excellent match up for him on Tuesday night when he goes up against Livan Hernandez. Kuroda has a 3.70 ERA on the road, but what is impressive to me and really stands out is his .95 WHIP. Over his last 5 starts he has really put it together and really proving to the Dodgers that he can pitch in the playoffs. He’s got a 2.37 ERA with a 0.86 WHIP in his last 5 starts.

Bet at 5Dimes

Kuroda has the best chance to win on Tuesday as he faces the Nationals who have not hit since they lost Nyjer Morgan in what seems like the rest of the season. In their last 5 their bullpen has a 9.28 ERA which means that when Livan Hernandez, 0-5 following a quality start in his last outing, takes the mound and leaves early it will be nothing but runs to support Kuroda’s efforts.

Keep in mind that Nationals are 7-18 vs. RH starters in their last 25 overall and 2-8 in their last 10 at home. Dodgers have hit Livan Hernandez hard in the past and have a collective .310 average against. They are still fighting for home field so this is not just another game. The sports betting lines that you get on this play is opening up at -191. I’d personally take the run line as the Nationals are among the leagues highest % of games lost by 1+ run.

Notables – Last 5 Starts!

Jarr Jurrjens (2-2, 1.12 WHIP, 1.72 ERA)
Jorge De La Rosa (3-1, 1.24 WHIP, 1.64 ERA)
Trevor Cahill (3-0, 1.03 WHIP, 2.48 ERA)
Zach Greinke (3-0, .73 WHIP, .73 ERA)
John Danks (1-1, 1.13 WHIP, 2.45 ERA)
Ryan Rowland-Smith (2-2, 1.10 WHIP, 2.89 ERA)

Most likely to sustain and win:

Hiroki Kuroda

Probable Cold Starting Pitchers:

Zach Duke (Pirates)

The story for Duke has been consistency. He has been unable to rattle off wins in a row as the Pirates are just 1-9 in his last 10 games following a quality start. Duke has a 1.72 WHIP, and 7.24 ERA in his last 5 starts making him the worst pitcher going on Tuesday. On a good note the Padres do have just a .253 average against which is lower than the high average lefties and righties are hitting off him this season. Lefties have a .286 average overall while right handed hitters have a .287.

Bottom line Duke just has not been the same pitcher that sent him to the all star game this year. he has a post all start ERA of 5.21 and the Pirates are just 2-12 in his last 14 starts on grass. He will face off against Cueto who has been another struggling pitcher in the second half, but has pitched better on the road. Cueto is coming off 9 days rest while Duke is coming off 6 days. It should be interesting to see how rusty these two are early.

Notables – Last 5 Starts!

Dave Bush (2-3, 1.48 WHIP, 6.51 ERA)
Edwin Jackson (2-2, 1.53 WHIP, 6.03 ERA)
Aaron Laffey (0-3, 2.01 WHIP, 6.04 ERA)

Most likely to rebound: Edwin Jackson
